I think TCI makes a billet unit but its about $200. I went to CrateEngineDepot.com for my factory flex plate replacement. Transmissioncenter.net can have you one tomorrow, usually.

Since I just went through a similar issue (see avatar )...

I was told the stock flexplate is being used in some trucks making some pretty big numbers so should be fine in something like yours or mine. If it's torqued correctly you should be fine with a stocker. I got mine from Billy - he (or Dustin) may have more?

BUT - better safe than sorry too. Do it once, do it right. Right? If I had the cash I would have got the TCI plate and not had the worry of it happening again.

    I would go TCI.

    True DAT!

Dale--do what Moze said--if you are going to do it--replace it once. Oh, and when replacing your flexplate, don't let the tranny slip off the jack and let it fall on your neck, pinning you to the ground. Also you should have a decent helper with you who will notice the bellhousing ON YOUR NECK to help move it as fast as possible.

How did you notice this? Did you replace a starter recently? Pop off the dust cover cap on the bellhousing?

I'd do it ASAP before you're left sitting somewhere.

Yeah, that would suck, wouldn't it Moze? Or better yet, you could just ignore the flexplate and just buy a new starter--which will end up NOT fixing your problem, now would it Moze?

Eh, its all in good fun. We ended up taking the new starter out and putting the old one back in--allowing Mozey to take it back and get like $150 back...
