Question Mod my truck or go with 06 GTO???

You guys are probally gonna kick my @$$ for even asking but here goes. I been looking at the '06 GTO's for a while now and im impressed with performance. Mainly being pretty quick in the quarter but also posting some good top end = 160+....... So can you guys tell me why I should keep my truck and not get a 6 speed GTO. I know i can mod the truck and make it fast but maybe the GTO is just a better starting point. As you guys know truck move through air like bricks and the GTO is very slippery through the wind which really helps its top end charge. Alot of my fun time is spend on the free way at high speed and the ole truck just aint got it after it get out of second gear. So just thow some thoughts at me.. Thanks

No doubt, i love the look on the faces of the rices guys when I blow buy them in a truck really pissed them off....... But then there is the thought of having a sports car again. Before I had back surgery i had a 91 5.0LX that was about 9 years ago. Since then I have had truck out of nesicity and ease of getting in and out of them. Now if feeling the itch of speed again and seems trucks do really good to a certain point then they hit a wall because of the aero characteristics. I drove my buddys TA and it pulls to 140 in a quickness and its stock. Just makes me wonder.......

if u'r plan is to go fast in the 1/4 then spend some time on ls2gto.com and read where the IRS (independent rear suspension) is CRAP....won't hook for shiite without alot of money to get it to bite out of the hole (suspension mods SERIOUS mods).....

IMHO.....drop a 403 and a 4l80E into the truck with a transbrake 3600+ stall 4.56 gears and do low very low 11's all day long and when that aint enough HOSE THAT BEAST and then the skies the limit...

hopefully it lets you to the video, but yea, I see where you're coming from. I love trucks all the way, but I have a hell of alot more fun jamming gears in the GTO. That's with the 5.7, headers, exhaust, and bone stock otherwise. it'll be alot more fun with the upcoming cam, tune, and nitrous

The stickshift IRS cars are a challenge to hook, but no worse than an ass-light pickup truck. Polyurethane lower control arm bushings and drag bags help them tremendously. The automatic cars have little problem. Infact, there's an 05 here in town that's cutting low 1.4 60' times.

Well i have never been to the track with my truck. Its an hour and a half away and frankly dont want to have to go there just to have sum fun. Most of my runs are done on the freeway 183 or I-35 at speeds of 60 or 80 and thne roll from there. So thats why i was looking at the GTO. 6 speed is better on highway and car cuts the wind better at speed.

Here's an example of how well they can hook up if you want them to. This car is a 403 LS2, TH400, and bone stock suspension except for poly LCA bushings and drag bags. First vid is motor passes, 2nd vid is bottle passes.

get a TBSS i have a H/C package, built tranny and geared it to 4.56 and i drive off from heavy modded f-bodies, gto's, vette's and all.....

i have a close friend with a FREAKED out TA and i drop 4th and still pull him on motor to motor after gearingthe truck i get better harder pulling at the top end in 4th gear....crazy but true....

u can get GTO's to bite but my experience on the road and at the track is the ones that HOOK are rare and the ones that dead hook are more rare
