Just recently when I start my truck when it's cold (starts up fine and idles fine) and put it in drive and give it gas it starts to studder like it wants to die. Does anyone know what can cause this? Once it starts going and also when it warms up it is fine. It just does this on the initial movement. Does the engine run off a different air/fuel table when it's cold and maybe the computer has a bug somewhere? It has a new fuel filter and good plugs and wires.

Does it feel like it's coming from the trans or engine?

My dad's 8.1 liter is doing the same thing. Chevy tested the fuel pressure which was good. Then the dealership claimed that it was the crank sensor, so they went ahead and changed it and it still has the same problem.

It's definately the engine. It feels like it's just running too rich at those low rpms. I forgot to mention it's that damn superchips piece of crap. I emailed you about that earlier, Allen. Also, how much of a surge in idle rpm were you talking about and how long would it last?

Pewter99, the fuel pressure should be good, I just put a new regulator on it.

if your o2 sensor craps out, you can have the same problem you're speaking of. Also, only half of the pump test is pressure. You also must check volume of output. The regulator will still regulate a weak pump at idle but when fuel demand increases so does volume requirement. I am not sure about how many gallons per minute flow you should have but it should be tested.

Is this also only when the engine is cold and goes away when at operating temp?

Yes its the cold periods, and at the start ups after it has been sitting for a couple minutes. Last night I went and tried it out, when I left the house it did it, and I drove about a mile to the gas station and pumped gas. When i started it up and put it in gear it wanted to almost die. The rpms i noticed drops under 500 then it shoots back up. Its a weird deal, the dealership just gives the runaround.
