First off I'd like to say thanks to everyone on here. I've gotten a lot of good information on here for the OBS to 6.0 swap. It's made me alot more confident that the swap can be done with out to much of a head ache and I'm sure I wouldn't be able to do it at all with your information.

I've finally gotten the money available to make the transplant but I would still like to save as much money as possable for performance upgrades. So was wondering can the OEM harness be used from the donor engine.

Yep, you can buy an adapter harness or get you a wiring schematic for the engine you have and figure out which wires do what and graft them into your current harness. It's doable. Look on Ebay for the adapter harness.

Cool, it's good to know it can be done. I looked on ebay but had no luck. Could you give me any other places to look for the adapter harness? Also do you know where I could get schematics for the current harness along with the donor harness? If I was to graft the harness in myself could it all be done with wire, butt-splices, and heat shrink? Or would I also need certain OEM connectors for some places? What type of wire is best to use? I hope I'm not killing you with all the questions. For what it's worth I've done alot of searching in the past on this swap and I've tried not to post any questions till now. I can see how it might get old hearing the same questions asked over and over again. Thanks for your help with this and also for all the other info I've read from your posts to other people.

iwana... you might want to visit my thread (1BadC10's Conversion). It starts off with inquiries such as yours, but progresses into implementation.

My project is not 100% complete, but I'm driving it as a daily driver (without A/C... for now). There's a descent amount of pictures linked to the thread as well.

Schematics can be found from AllData. They may not seem like the most "straight-forward", but they are enough for informational purposes. Would I do it on my own again, probably not. I've got one thing to sort out regarding my TCC lockup circuit, but all else works perfectly. I'm strongly considering buying a Nelson harness to clean things up, and eliminate the TCC lockup issue I have now (HPTuners doesn't seem to change the TCC mode, but that is a story by itself).

id bypass "adapter" harness and opt for the full swap harness.
this will do a couple of things for you.
better the odds of starting the vehicle on the first try
will have to rely on the integrity of the OE harness (unknown damage)
backed by phone support
project gets done faster, with less Politically UnCorrect engineering
unnessecary knowledge or what wire goes where syndrome - four or
five wire termination and its done.
custom rod shops will use a swap harness rather than making the OE
fit.. time and money
