Is the smog equipment for a silverado SS....or any other LQ9 powered truck the same as a 5.3 powered truck of the same year? I was mainly talking about escalade to a 5.3 powered silverado...I know about the cats and I would assume that the 02's are the same count....and in the same area....but what about the rest.....would all of the 5.3L stuff physically hook up to the LQ9 stuff?

THE LQ9 HAS DUALS TO THE MUFFLER WHERE THE 5.3 GOES INTO ONE PIPE AND THEN THE MUFFLER I THINK. MOTOR WISE IT SHOULD SLIDE IN PLACE WHERE THE 5.3 IS. YOU WILL NEED A RE TUNE AND THE 4L60E SHOULD HOLD UP AS LONG AS YOU DO SOME MINOR FIXES ON IT. EMAIL FARMTRUC OR REDHEARTBEAT, THEY CAN ANSWER YOUR QUESTION IN A LITTLE MORE DETAIL.

All the bolt holes are in the same locations and all the parts interchange. The only part that doesn't interchange AFAIK is one bolt hole that is missing in the alternator mount for a LS1 changing over to an iron block. Until you get into the displacement on demand engines, almost everything is interchangable except the obvious things like pistons and the 4.8L crankshaft. DOD engines can be stripped of DOD parts to go back conventional by replacing the 8 DOD lifters and buying the correct valley cover that seals off the DOD ports(they can be plugged with NPT pipe plugs if you desire). LS2 engines have the cam sensor in the front cover and the knock sensors on the side of the engine block rather than in the valley pan area and the sensors have a different thread. I think all engines with the newer crankshaft reluctor wheel have that configuration, like the LS2.
