It's late Saturday evening...I'm pissed off cause Turbo Tax tells me I owe $830 to the government...not a happy camper...![]()
I leave to go get some grub around 8 p.m.--and I have to get onto I-20. There are 2 left turn lanes, and you need to be in the left one because the left lane on the Frontage road turns into the onramp...
One problem---I am not in the left turn lane--some chach in a Monte SS (Not sure what year--2004 maybe?--but I know it was supercharged, I heard the whine). I swear he just came back from a Poison concert--hair and all---blaring mid 80's rcok. We go under the bridge to turn left and I left the light kinda quick so I could get in the left lane...but Johnny-Too Cool from 1987 doesn't want me in his lane...![]()
So once I get around the apex of the left turn to head down the Frontage road, I nail it, and end up doing about 70% of a decent drift...and we are off to the races.Since he had the inside lane (and front wheel drive) he got the whole shot. But once I straightened out, it barked 2nd pretty good and I walked away and merged onto I-20...
I didn't blast away from this guy, but I was about 1.5-2 cars ahead after about 1/8 mile...
First race in a while. And pretty happy with the outcome. I just wish it was against something cooler than FWD V-6 powered Monte... It did have dual exhausts...does that count for anything?????![]()
P.S. I got curious and just looked...Motor Trend says a 2004 Monte SS does 6.5 0-60 and 14.72 in the 1/4 mile. I've never officially run a 1/4 mile at a track, but would I be in the low 14's if I was 1.5-2 car lenghts ahead at 1/8?
