Say Thanks Thread !... To the Person who got you Hooked

At some Point we all had someone help us Get hooked on your Truck addictiction.. For myself i allways knew what i wanted to Build from the day i bought the truck and my time of need wasnt when i first bought it . Mine was already built/tuned 408/turbo/80E and sitting... but truck was a turd... I was ready to scap my project.. It made me sick!! and i walked away for over 6 months with it sitting in my driveway.. There was only one person who would talk to me and "help" me realize that i could force myself to Learn HPtuners and get over that hump take control and make it happen ! Thats Been over 2 years now and i know we dont talk much but when i sit back and think about all the great people i have met along they way none can compare to the Confidence and advice that he had in me for some reason.... So ! Special Thanks to DALE ! COWL327 for being that guy who helped me :woot: Myself and my truck thanks you for taking the time to help me !!

Well mine would have to be Cody (1slow01z71). With out him my truck would still be stock. Hes taught me everythng I know which isnt a hell of alot but it gets me by.

Thanks to my Dad,always took me to alamo dragway when i was waaay younger in his 81' chevy rcsb.

hmmm....when I first got on looking for performance stuff, my first move was to get Pin 42 turned on for the electric fans (that I got from Dale), by Allen. This is when he was still a mile north of Mexico (haha). Got a mile down the road and turned around and went back and got a tune.

After that, Billy at TRT played a huge roll in helping me with stuff....cam swaps, springs, pushrods, torque convert(s)(s)(s), etc.

During that time I also ran into Virgil at the track...didn't meet him but 'met' his truck. Played leap frog with him all the way back from Ennis. Saw him later on at a Wells Fargo and finally met him and had a look at the old black truck (wish he still had it - I loved that truck). After that, we spent a lot of time helping each other on projects - our own and other folks from the forum.

Around that same time, Tyler was also a huge help on any projects. Dude has more energy than anyone I know. It would be midnight and he would still be ready to keep on working.

Greg was also a huge part in helping me learn the game and was always more than willing to help on projects and trouble-shooting.

Once I went turbo, enter Louis Gigliotti. He's an amazing tuner and it was a pleasure and privilege to have him work on my stuff.

There are others, but my break is over, so if you aren't in the list, don't get your feelings hurt.

Out of all of those that helped me mentioned above, I'm glad to call all of them friends. They're always ready to help out and I'm always happy to do the same for them.

Well I'd say thanks to everyone on the site, I was originally curious about making my OBS V6 a little faster, then got turned onto the swap stuff by ducky. Even though I never got around to doing the swap in my 97, I've learned a TON from just reading and lurking around. So, thanks to all of LS1Truck and a side "thank you" to ducky for giving me some guidance, even if I was too poor to follow through.

hmm... i have to thank everyone who constantly tells me "trucks are slow...especially lifted ones" it's good motivation.


My grandpa got me into cars. My dad is a mechanical god, but it's a 'job' for him, and says I am just wasting money. He outgrew the 'modify cars' stage when he met my mom. Had a daily driver 9 second nova...sold it to buy an apartment. IDIOT lol. He still helps out whenever I get stuck though. Which is nice. Good way to learn. I can try it myself, and when it doesn't work right, he fixes it and points out what I did wrong lol.

Well first of all I have to say thanks to Chad (06 4.8) He's helped me out quite a bit with my truck and by now he could tell you all just about everything about my truck.

Also, Casey always replies to PM's and answers his phone when I have a question. Thanks Casey.

And although none of them are on this site, thanks to all my friends in Cali and the Marine Corps that helped me on the weekends.

I Would prob have to say mine was ryan (Banker099) i was already into trucks when i mett him and he was the one that talked me into going fast (even though i have a limo of a truck)

My dad got me into cars, I always and still hear stories (mostly from his friends) of an old '70 C10 with a worked 350 and a Muncie 4speed with 5.13 gears. Or a '67 Camaro with believe it or not a built inline-6. And the one I actually lived through, an '80 Dodge Adventurer with a 360. I still remember the sound of those open headers and he sold it when I was 6. Well fast forward I got my '06, bunch of idiots on FSC, started hanging around here. First threads I remember reading was Ducky's about naming your truck. His became Queen Ann's Revenge this was back when it was a 4.3 too. Then started reading the kill stories, I remember Virgil's (may the SOB get struck by lightning) walking all over a Mustank on a 150 shot in his black truck. Stopped visiting the site for a while, googled 2006 Silverado V8 swap, and here we are.

wouldn't know who to thank since I've had the bug all my life. Probably thanks to my POS dad who raced dirt roundy-round cars and never paid attention to us, rarely paid child support and got his dumb ass killed while walking home from the drunk tank. Thanks, Dad. Started on the performance truck mods with a 93 Corvette engine into my 92 ECSB C1500 in 1995. :)

Thank you dad for putting the first wrench I ever held into my hands, thank you mom for supporting me with what ever I wanted to do in your garage and thank you to Mike Renalds as before you set me on the proper way I was big into Honda and Toyota performance

I guess I'd have to say Garrisson got me here... but I already had the 69 built long before that. So really my Dad got me into building/modifying, even though he doesn't know a thing about it. One day he just decided it'd be a cool project to sit back and watch me do.

I couldn't thank the people here enough though... some of you guys are like family to me.

I was always into cars from the time I was little. My dad wasn't ever a big car guy, his boss however was and I think that's where I picked it up from.

I found this site after searching literally "ls1 truck". I was talkig with my cousin about swapping an ls1 into my truck and was doing research. It's all yalls fault that I have gotten the crazy mod bug. I have done every mod my truck currently has thanks to all y'all. :thumb:

I'd have to say that one of the guys who used to be on here a lot (NITROUS) got me interested when he pulled into the Sonic I was working at back in the day. He had a Vette engine in his silverado and that's what got my wheels turning. I never had the time/money to do anything major with my truck, But after I get the new one and sell my old truck, I should be able to get the new truck boosted.

thanks to Tory(not a member) i bought my 1st truck and went to the track that night, he amazed me at what a truck could do and he helped me get started, along the way i met a few guys from the DFW area and later on met Virgil. a few years later found this site, and Moze's truck was a big inspiration to me. thanks to everybody on here that has helped me along the way.

Appreciate you guys for your answers, suggestions, opinions, and of course criticism! Being 6'5" 330lbs. I pretty much dont fit into cars anymore, so trucks is my thing now. I been turning wrenches for a while now and still get the anxiety and joy out of modding a vehicle. Plus its a good hobby to avoid getting into trouble. For future reference I will have many more questions and again, Thx!!

Billy sure is an awesome guy. I got my entire setup from him.....Turbo, fuel system, gauges and all. When my friends and I were installing it all, he always picked up his phone and answered all my "installation questions". Thanks Billy......and thanks to Moze for the stickers

Guess it started when my dad showed me how to change oil when i was youngin. Then it simply progressed when I bought my 86 F150 when i was 15 as my first project. Then it has just gone on since then.

But as for the LSx series....I guess i could thank many members on this site for broadening my horizons. And it all started with a simple header question. So to all of those who help empty my bank account THANKS!

guess my buddy Chick had alot to do with it, i was into trucks but the wrong side i was all about the rice :lol: all the dumb crap guys do to trucks i did believe me eeverything dumb. anyways chick had me check out this site, i never had a problem changing parts or working on a truck to make it run, but not for performance, well i jumped on the shout box and started talking to virgil and moze about how my truck was bad ass :lol: then dale and greg, ducky still had a v6 and was itching for his swap, but what really got me hooked was when moze bought lucille and was doing the 6.0 swap so me and chick drove down to dallas to lend a hand, we worked all day and we left at like 1230 am and about 30 mins down the road virgil calls and says listen to this, thats when i decided it was time, and from then on me and moze had a nice rivalry goin on, and now me and chick do alot of stuff up here, and thanks to all the guys that post up all the info and stickies its really helped me get rid of most of my ricer tendencies :lol:

but thanks to big Chick cus my truck wouldnt even be around without him, even though i cant depend on him for crap :lol:

i looked for our street race from years back when we were side by side, but i couldnt find it, or that pick of me and you when virgil was flagging us, or the one at SAR when we were lined up next to eachother, cant find any of my good pics :( and to moze's defense he spun badly when we raced.


oh and GATORS truck is what really got me goin that thing sounded mean, im still rockin the DRs he had :lol:

well i thank my dad for getting me into the auto world since he has his own shop and always had something cool

and as far as getting onto the site.....well i saw videos of parish's turbo truck on youtube and went out looking for a single cab but found a ext cab for a good deal and got it.....and immediatly started reading up and modifying it.

skeet is one of my top motivators as well as virgil and quik

Tons of people on this site have helped me out. The short list would be Mic has helped me more times than I can remember, Allen, Greg, Virgil, Moze, Kurt, Jon but lots of others for sure. But as far as getting me into modifying my truck would have to be the fact that my brother-n-law has always trick out his rides. Also the fact that 2yrs ago he didn't really thing that these trucks could be fast.... He has since changed his mind. But yeah i would thank him he is super smart and always helping me.

i never had an influence to push me through the automotive world. I am into chevy cuz i learned to drive in my dad's 87 silvy. i started to really get into it when i had a 95 dodge ram that needed new head gaskets. after i found out that motors are really big legos, it all fell into place. my engineering drive keeps me motivated as well as just reading the joy someone has when they complete their build. This site overflows with information and thanks to everyone for answering my questions and putting up with my crap :lol: and a special thanks to rob (robt34) for always lending a hand and mark (slo truck) for lending a garage :)

Jim (Parish8) originally got me hooked on the nbs truck thing. He was the inspiration behind getting my truck to run 11.0's and look completely stock.

Casey is solely responsible for a crippled bank account and the inspiration to be the first 10 second nbs truck with a procharger. Currently holding the record at 10.46.

Flaco is responsible for my current headache and a drained bank account.

I do however owe thanks to others for the help along the way:

id have to say i thank google lol! i randomly decided i didnt want the 4.3 anymore and was going to put a 5.7 vortec into my 98 OBS, did some google searches and ended up here. i put up one post and thanks to GREG (REDHEARTBEAT) my plans for a 5.7 vortec quickly turned genIII 5.3, after A LOT of reading and a LOT of money it was "done" and the breaking of stuff began. 2 years later i sold the truck and bought the RST, luckily its still around town and some kid who knows NOTHING about ANYTHING owns it and beats it to this day and all i hear about is how nasty of a truck it is. so im grateful to this site and all who answered my questions as i knew NOTHING about motors or these trucks before and somehow built something noone around here is used to seeing. thanks all.

Hey Procharger Boy !... Can you read in the title it says thank the Person ! Not everyone you have bought parts from in the last 4 years !!... I am not wanting to feel responsible for you bank account and your turd has allways been fast you just have to work on it more then once a year to make it faster !!... Damn Street trucks !!

As for my truck..............it's not a street truck, it's a race truck so get that right
If I could stay out of the hospital, I could work on it more than once a year. I'm going under the knife again in less than 48 hours. This will be my 3rd surgery in the last 9 months due to self inflicted injuries. :nutz:

I lived in Texas City and seen his truck around, thats how I ended up here. So a special thanks to him even though I would see him alot around and only talked with him once. I talked to him as well cause it turned out his sister was aqauinted with someone from my lady's past. Other than that, I bought my truck from a friend to help out and it helped me out as well. Its been slow going but I am going to make this truck run for what I have!! I have been in to cars even before I can remember, and it wasnt any influence from my father or anyone else. Its what I already knew I liked

I also wanted to say a thanks to CHUYR. I met him because I've seen his truck on the street that I live on. Since we have been hanging out, he has helped in lots of ways. He went with us to install the motor in the vette, helped me move, helped get my motor and break it down, plus more. For a younger guy, I have never met a more mature person for his age. I guess when I was as young as he is, I was with the wrong crowd!

i have always been around fast cars and trucks, cause of my dad and uncles... but what got me hooked on this site was ducky, g, turbo mic, and mean05, since then i cant be without this site, i get cranky without it
