my cousins 07 nnbs does the same thing, i dont know what it is either.
My friend had the same problem. It was the driveshaft. He lubed it up, and problem solved.
forget that, isnt that thing under warranty. get that crap fixed man.
:imwstupid: absolutely use that warranty while you can.
alot of guys were havin problems with the 07s and driveshafts. Spray wd on the tail shaft, i can't remember if there is a grease fitting or not on the housing. If it stops, wait til it starts again, and take it to dealer.
Believe they said silicon spray would last 3-4 months.
the only reason im sketching about the dealer is i dont want them to give me crap about my intake. that shouldnt void anything but i dunno. i could always through the stock one back on
an intake shouldnt matter at all. and mine kinda does the same thing, im pretty sure its when it downshifts, or at least thats what i always thought it was...
I can say the dealer can suck it if they wanna get :ghey: about the CAI. Then again, it's too easy to fix to bother taking it in. Do like others have suggested just please don't use WD40 . Take out 4 bolts, pull the DS, pack the slip yoke with grease, reinstall removed components in reverse order. Done for another 18 months. BTW, don't run over yourself. Chock the wheels.
Crappy how this was a problem in the late 90's and early aughts and went away only to return.
what's wrong with wd40? if it's exposed, he can drive around block and see if it stops making "clunck" ....pulling ds, and greasing seems like a lot of effort for troubleshooting, spraying a can under truck is lot quicker.
Spraying from underneath does not get in the splines where the problem is. WD40 washes off too....especially on the outside.
Wasn't being funny. I don't wanna be liable.
I've been told mods don't void warranty. They only problem is if the mod breaks something else....then the warranty wont cover the broken part.
Gotta prove the mod is or caused the failure.
I speak from the dealer POV dude. I still try to help unless people wanna call me a Qlube guy. :spit:
I'm followin' ya'...
To you. Thanks for the support. I decided to shun my image and not respond to such poppycock :spit: because I got out of 3rd grade 25 years ago
Good on ya'...
my buddy has an 08 2500hd with allison tranny. The dealer he bought it from said a handheld programmer, cai, OR changing exhaust TIP would void his ENTIRE warranty. (the pilgram cannon is ugly, he wasn't even going to touch the muffer)
Not sure if the gassers are as strict. And i've never had a problem with shaft...just going off what i read on another forum. They said wd40 was a temp fix. I didnt realize it was the splines that made noise, i figured it was outer seal or something.
I hate warranty work. This is because I make less for the same job if the vehicles is under regular or extended GM warranty.
That being said what he was told is a load of POOP.
Here's the deal, any dealer can refuse any service to any customer for any reason because it's a franchise. GM as a corporation (not the dealer) cannot refuse warranty repair unless GM corporate can prove the modification had a direct affect on the failure.
It would be pretty common to refuse warranty at the dealer level for a thrown rod on a $14K diesel engine if it's got propane, intake, exhaust, turbo, and tune. It would be stupid to refuse the warranty repair of a dome light because a truck has a lift kit.
Yeah, caught that three days ago.
My 07 nnbs LT definitely does the same thing. Feels like a binding in the driveline at slow speeds, to the point where it seems like Im driving on a gravel road in the back. So the splines need lube where the ds slides into the tranny? Use axle grease or something a little lighter?
The heavier the better so it lasts.
