Which Locker Works The Best?anyone With Experience With Any Of These Thanks For The Info, what Are The Ups And Downs Of These Units?
pretty sure auburn makes the G80, eaton makes the true trac...prolly wrong on that, i run a detroit true trac, so do most the fellas seems to work the best dont have any expieriance with the others so i cant say if they are bad or good, just what i know works.
True-Trac... Made by Detroit the Eaton is junk IMO
i have the tru-trac.....
so no problems (associated with the tru trac itself) and i know alot of other people who run it... i think its a good bang for buck...
I had an Auburn in my last truck, best mod I ever had on that thing. Not sure who makes the best but all three are huge competitors and built very well. When I bought the Auburn I was looking at the Eaton. The place I got it carried both and said for the money he recomended the auburn. The auburn was actually a lil cheaper and this guy is a respected drag racer around here so I listened. They all seem to be great lockers, so I would just see what you could get the better deal on.

All three are much better than the stock G-80, but the Auburn is the weakest of the three. My truck will be getting an Eaton LSD in the near future.
$430.00 Sound Good On The Detroit Tru Trac From Jegs?
yea ebay usually has em for 420$ and so does...ahh damn i forgot....:arrgh:

alrite thanks guys
the g80 is made by eaton. Detroit is an eaton company....eaton and tru trac are made by the same people.
Ron's Machine on Ebay always has good deals.
GM 8.5" CHEVY 10 BOLT 8.6 DETROIT TRUETRAC POSI 913A481:eBay Motors (item 230349833310 end time Jun-26-09 19:42:10 PDT)
He has Eaton's too for about the same price.
Rons Machine FTW
I got an eaton, and no problems.
The only place I recommend you going to Zach.
Basically, and Eaton or Auburn uses clutches and bands to make the posi happen, kinda like how a transmission uses clutches and bands to shift gears. The only thing about that is we all know how well bands or clutches can wear out or not grab. The TrueTrac uses straight-cut gears to make the posi happen. No slipping of any sort, like bands can. I am sure the Eaton is a great unit, but I would go with the Truetrac only because of how it is built, the price, and how reliable it is.
+1 for the true trac
The difference is the Eaton uses real clutches that can be replaced and the bias can be adjusted. The Auburn has cones that are not rebuildable and bias is not adjustable.
I got my detroit true trac from ron's machine on ebay. Cheapest ive seen. was like $450 shipped with shims and bearing kit.
