Well i think that is who had my tranny before. Anyway did that tranny slam into 2nd even at a slow take off. Sometimes, most of the time, it does and sometimes it shifts soft. Just wondering

Its in your tune...shift pressures
Allllleeeeeeennnnnnnnn!
could be th shift kit...mine if the speed is just right will snap your head on the shift :) other times its smooth.
Brad, the tranny mentioned has the shift kit installed where as the line pressures and RPMs build, the harder the shift. He said that at even at slow take off speeds that it snaps pretty good. From the sounds of it, the tune needs some work...
Yeah what he said. Also when pulling a hill in 4th at low rpm you can feel and hear the TC locking in and out. At least that what it sounds like to me
Yup, its in the tune man. You need to have it reworked or have an SD (Speed Density) tune done...
where at?
allen can get it worked out just notify him and he can get u setup.
what is it?
Nelson Performance - Performance without Sacrificing Drivability In sanantonio... Its worth the drive, trust us.
yeah cause doing this by mail with him hasnt worked out the greatest. Its justa a long haul for me. I need to make a trip to houston so maybe i will skip over there
fuel is going to cost me out the arse though, around $360
where are you coming from? Tyler said he would pay for your fuel.
the shift pressures are supposed to remain stock!!! these transmissions is blue-printed and the hydraulic system is as well.
and where did you get my old transmission??????????
richard sold it to me {bigtex} in Perf Trucks
Tyler ..speed density tune? doesnt that involve removing the MAF???? why would yu do that? UNless its a straight drag truck
Yes I know what an SD tune is... Doing so would help him out not just with the shifting, but it would help out his tune overall. Sure, you could go back in and alter the tables without doing an SD tune, but doing a live tune would make his truck run better overall. So maybe the real question is his his truck a DD or is it strictly a track vehicle?
None taken. Did you know that the 92-93 Corvettes are speed density programmed? There isnt a MAF on them and they run just fine. Mine did too until some yahoo took the LS1 intake and 78mm TB off if and put a worthless LS2 intake with 90mm NickWilliams throttle body on it. Now it doesn't idle too good but runs a whole lot better! WOT tuning is perfect, just idle is off.
Check your MAP and TPS sensors. They cause shift problems when bad or when you have a bad wire running to the sensors. Check for nicks/cuts/rubs in the wiring to the sensors.
If you don't know what a speed density tune does please don't comment. You can easily be a Daily Driver with a speed density tune. It isn't race only.
check your tune and make sure you have your trans pressure returned to stock...i had the same problem after putting the servo and shift kit in...allen left the trnas pressures up and you could give just a hair of gas and bang it would slam into gear....I put the pressure back to stock and now it shifts in accordance to how much throttle input is there...soft when less gas and hard with more
See... jerks. I DO know what speed density tune does and how you do it with HPT. You can do one with or without a MAF. Since this guy has a LS6 block/LS1 rotating assembly, he can use a 2 bar SD tune if he wants. And look at his mods! Since he has major mods (N/A) with a high lift camshaft, he probably needs to have one done. It wouldn't hurt him one bit.
And yes, I do agree with you Danny and James--he does need to set his tranny line pressures back to stock since he is running that specific tranny (knowing how it was built).
I have a SD tune... haha
danny told me to tell my tuner not to touch the tranny settings so as not to have these problems. thanks danny!
I dont have the high lift cam. i got the baby one. lol. I think its like 534 lift or something close. I wouldnt say My truck has major mods because it doesnt feel fast enough to me. Maybe the procharger will help.
Oh. I say your duration numbers and when I typically see a 220/224, I think for it to have .56X/.58X numbers. The sole fact that you have a cam makes it technically be a motor with major modifications, based upon what tuners say...not to mention a different rotating assembly.
i have raced dirt track for about 10 years and have had motors of over 650hp n/A in 2200lbs cars { modifieds} so now most things dont feel that fast anymore. It kinda sucks. I dont dare turn this thing 8300 rpms. lol
