Now that is a project you can be proud of. I can't wait to see what that 80mm turbo is like.
we made some progress on it tonight, finally got the timing ironed out, and making our way through the VE table. Its tough starting from scratch with a Pure SD 2 bar VE in a large stalled auto turbo truck....
but we will get it :) Timing is still in the mid-high teens and AFR is high 10s-low 11s. I work up to the tune, not down. one piece pistons are good :)
I would say SOTP it feels like 450~ rwhp. Plenty for 8#s and the current state of tune. I also think there might be some spool left on the table with the current exhaust leak. Boost holds nice, no worries there.

Moze, what were your dyno numbers on the engine last time? Did you dyno it after removing the heads, rockers and whatever else?

Greg he didnt get it back on the dyno but i would say he was 320ish when he was done de-modding it
480 rwhp should be an easily reachable number at 8PSI, I would think. :rock:
he told me last night they were only 1/2 way done with the tuning on the truck....hope Moze likes the boost he is at cause to boost up is to change the whole tune....
i hope he gets 500 out of it, that would be sweet in a 4400lb truck thats a DD

Thanks man...it's gettin there. Streets were finally dry by lunch time and I took a coworker out and made his eyes bug and his knuckles white :lol: and got on it a couple of times on the way home and it's really nice. Sever traction issues though. :rolleyes:

Well, tuning was finished up tonight. A couple tweaks here and there and good to go. Many thanks again to Louis for the tuning. He said it felt like it was at about 450 hp or so to the wheels but might with the weight of the truck, it's deceiving and may be closer to 500. :drool:
Anyway, I'm really please with it. Virgil drove it a little bit today and Louis drove it after tuning...maybe they'll throw in their thoughts...
The problem is that its a tire lathe, so you cant get an accurate feeling of actual power... :D
For those that care, Timing is 18 at peak Tq to redline, ramping down from 22 to help it spool, Trims are +2-5 at idle and driving, and -8-12 before it gets into boost, and 110kpa+ are zero. AFR is 11.2~ at WOT, 12.0 at part throttle 3-5#s. no knock, maybe .1-.4 here and there, but really nothing at all. At 20*, we were getting a solid 1.2-1.7* of KR, so I reduced it to 18.
IATs were very cool, damn near ambient, and only rising ~15* from a 2-5k pull in 3rd :)
All in all, went really well. Moze is happy :D

Definately not solid. just a hint after a few passes. I will have to re-adjust the offset for IATs, another degree above 100* would solve it. I have the timing retard pretty aggressive, so even the slightest sound of knock, real or false, it will start taking timing out. You never know, bad batch of gas, hotspot, boost spike, etc. Its better to be safe than sorry, and Im not one to push the limits of something that isnt my car, or a race car.
it was fun to drive...came into boost nicely, felt like my truck on the 125 shot for sure....we lined up and i 3 honked but i cheated and left on the 2nd and Moze was fetching me till we hit traffic, but i was motor only.....wanna go again...i have bottle and gas now :D

Yeah - had all kinds of pedal left but one there was a car in the middle lane and if I went WOT my back end would be all over the place (scary breaking loose at 50 +). We need to go on a nice straight stretch with no traffic - once on motor once with you on the bottle. Bottle would be a fun race.
