A 224 XE cam is not as aggressive as the 224R. I think the 224 XE is about a .566 lift. A 224 .566 on a 114 will be just fine. But you will need the PRC springs and the 7.4 hardened pushrods...
The lobe separation angle is a measurement of how the intake and exhaust lobes are phased with each other---it is a measurement of the max lift of the intake valve and max lift of the exhaust valve. These timing events are essential to how and when you want your power. A narrow LSA (like a 110 or 112) will have a rougher idle, a peakier torque curve, and less hp in the higher RPMs. A wider LSA (like a 114-116) will have a smoother idle, a flatter torque curve, and it will breathe a little better up top.
Just throw a Vette servo and a shift kit in it for now--the cam you are running isn't THAT big. But you will DEFINITELY be needing a 3000 stall to go with it...
I ran a 224/230 581/591 w/112 lsa and a 3600 stall on my 5.3. made great power and sounds very nice
