so does that mean you cant put high temp paint or they dont come with high temp paint?

Yeah they come with regular paint on them which is kinda pointless but whatever.. I think im going to wrap them and silicone coat them. I have to wait three weeks for my driveshaft anyways.. So I might as well just do em up right.
Started working on headers today. Their wrap comes in Wednesday. Started wiring today too. Givin me a headache :p. http://i913.photobucket.com/albums/a...8/235858b2.jpg
just ordered mine. the pacesetter ones they should be here friday. i hate the way rusted headers look under the hood. so what exactly are you doing with the headers in the tree. and how good is that header wrap stuff? i heard of people wraping them then using engine paint on top the wrap.
Yeah and they actually fit!! I was amazed. They're perfect. Minus the crappy paint they come with
oh ok cool. i was worried about them clearing that front differential. build looks good man. i finally finished cleaning the frame. my previous engine had a bad oil leak for about 4 months so the sludge build up was pretty bad. so hopefully i should be dropping the engine in this weekend and bolting it all up. i still gotta figure out how to do the fuel lines. im not sure exactly what to order or how to connect them. i have the dual fuel line system already so i dont need to change the pump. any clue?
Your fuel system has to support 58 psi. The old system is low pressure isn't it?
i got dual line. ones bigger than the other. then theres a third line that goes into some canister.
also i need the info for the guy who you got the throttle body from. i emailed the person who i thought it was and he said it has to be a drive by cable core to get the ported one.
Heres the link to him http://www.ebay.com/itm/200654736584...84.m1497.l2649
He does great work really.
Got my first header wrapped today. Still need to coat it tomorrow. But im pretty pleased with the way it came out.

Started her for the first time yesterday. Only took 1 try and she was purring right along. All she needs now is to finish covering wiring, get my driveshaft in the mail, and get my exhaust. Thinking side pipes? ;) Anyways more pics and a first start video to come. Computer im on here at school is terrible.

awesome dude!! i think i was as excited as the guy in the video when it finally started. cant wait till i can do the same!
Hahaha yeah :) that and I live in Texas and am going to Texas a&m. Myzterray you have no idea how excited I was. That was my dad though haha. So many variables lined up and it worked flawlessly. One little fuel leak to fix and she's a go. Thoughts on te side pipes? Like em hate em?
yea thats awesome. that almost never happens lol! side pipes out the back arent too bad. i would go with camaro tips if i was going to do it.
I'm going to TAMUG and love it here, I'm guessing you're saying that you're going to go to C-Stat?
I'm not really sure about the side pipes though...don't know if you mean like these side pipes
http://i978.photobucket.com/albums/a...P9250658-1.jpg
or side pipes like this

I think a single 3" outlet in the stock location with a nice tip would look best though
Congrats on the first time startup! Please, for love of all things cool, don't do the side pipes. It's not the 70s anymore. I think they're tacky. Also, on the side exit exhaust, Ford did it factory in the late 90s. They stopped for a reason. The heat coming from caused problems with the rear passenger wheel. If you've ever noticed a late 90s F150 with discolored wheels on one side, that's why. If I remember correctly, it caused bearing problems on that wheel as well, but I'm not positive on that part.
I do have a few questions for you. In one pic, there's wires run across the engine and hanging down. I can see butt connectors on those wires. Is that something that you did, or is that from Nelson? Also, you posted questions about wiring, and then didn't mention wiring any more. What exactly did you end up getting from Nelson? (full replacement, yours reworked, theirs or your computer) Looking forward to seeing this thing all buttoned up and you driving it in the next video.
Oh, which motor mounts did you use? If you said, I missed it.
I think it's cool that you're a high school senior. Most of the kids your age that I know won't open their hood, much less do something like this. Congrats! I do good to get my 12 year old to hand me tools, but my 9 year old wants to be in the middle of it. lol
Oh, can I see more pics of the Beetle? I love the early Bugs, and the tail lights say that one is. :)
First, thanks! I know what you mean about high schoolers my generation is pathetic. But anyways. The wiring is Nelson's. They made the whole new harness. The butts are my wiring on the old factory harness for headlights and stuff and they surely aren't hangin there now. I used dirty dingo engine mounts and they are great. The beetle is a 1967. Been in the family since new. Ill be the third owner. Completely stock. Me and my dad just finished resorig it in and out. Only 114000 original miles so far. More pics of everything later. And the computer tune was done by Nelson as well. They do a great job.
As for the exhaust I didnt mean the side exit like the one before the wheel. I was thinking duals angled out the back behind the wheels.
That sounds a lot better. In my opinion, exhaust is meant to be heard and not seen. I like a well tucked exhaust with some nice chrome tips just sticking below the body. I wish I had pics of my V8 S-10. I used late 70s Trans Am tips on it. The only part visible was only about 3/4" that dropped below the body.
The Bug story is cool. I'd love some pics, even in PM or a photobucket link.
Will be towing to exhaust shop Friday. Magnaflow true duals. Then driveshaft coming in next week which should lead to a driving truck and a finished build thread! Lost more pics and videos to come at the end. Anyone as excited as I am?!
