Im fairly sure the SBC clutch wont fit the LSX flywheel, so its probably not the flywheel thats the problem.......
Snapped a few pics tonight. Still need to tidy up some wiring and stuff and make a radiator cover and mount top of fans.. But its gettin there slowly.

Here's what I did with the fuse block that came with the harness. I didnt like that it was just exposed so I snagged a block from a 96 truck and gutted it. Mounted it on the fender and mounted my fuse block inside it. That way it looks somewhat factory and it protected from the elements. Also shows where I mounted my PCM

Also if I cant modify the Camaro SS cover how I want the I'll prob just end up using my 3 piece covers from my green truck. haha

yeah i was on the rock last night. lol long day. i took the alignment pins out and it fits!
Not much more to tell but here's a few pics to hold you over. I have been cleaning up on the inside and stuff lately. I found some billet for cheap so stuck that in there along with cd player and speakers. This weekend I hope to fill it with coolant, trans fluid, and change the oil. May finish up the fan wiring if I have time as well.
Few pics of how the headers look as well as the oil pan. I may swap pans out if I can find a cheap one so this wont get smashed, but for now its staying.

put a skid plate under there going from in front of the xmember to under the oil pan. If you break the pan you probably won't know until the engine is burned up.
hey i just joined this site and i found ur posts here and its exactly what i would like to do my truck. Just outta curiousity how hard of a job was it and how much did it cost ya?
Havent posted here in a lil while but still gettin some work done slowly..
Got a good deal on a billet wheel so painted it to match.

Also put some blue LEDs in the HVAC controls today. Went to good ole Wal Mart and picked up a blue transparent clipboard for $2 and cut it up for the display. Now its all nice and blue instead of hideous green! lol
http://i135.photobucket.com/albums/q...o/IMAG0105.jpg
Also bought an intake for it that fits great IMO. Changing out the blue couplers to black to blend in better. Prob gonna just end up using these 6.0L covers for a clean factory look.

Exhaust is done! I'll have vids shortly.

I just blew the 4.3 in my 92 1500 and It has a 5spd trans, I've been doing alotta research and some people say the 5.3 wont work with the nv3500 trans but based on what I've just seen i guess it does work. So all i need is a 4.8 flywheel and different pilot and throwout bearings and it will mate up to the 5.3?
Also,Im getting a 5.3 with ecu and harness included, since im using the ecu that came with the 5.3 do I still need to send it off to be reprogrammed?
Can I use 5.3 motor mounts?
Just want to cover everything before I start spending money.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, I'm 19 and I know alot but I still have alot more to learn, this will be my first engine swap.
Yeah you will need the 4.8L flywheel and clutch kit. Also the throwout and pilot bearings listed previously.
You will need to have your PCM tuned or it wont run. You will also need to buy LS to SBC adapter motor mounts. Can be bought cheap on ebay even.
Good luck!
hurry with those videos!!!
Here is one as you wish sir. Just a quick clip of us loading it back on the hay wagon. haha

sounds great man! i should be getting my longtubes, stall, and new exhaust on this weekend ill post up when i do
that truck is gonna be sick when its all one color nice work man
good deal! glad to see it runnin!
now why didn't you go with a 6.0?!
Another question, so once I get everything in and put in the tuned 5.3 pcm and connect the wiring harness to everything, am I done with wiring or is there more to it.
Got some minor things done last night.
Ran the steam line from the heads to the radiator. There was a screw in plug just below the overflow line so I threaded in a hose barb. Should work fine.

http://i135.photobucket.com/albums/q...o/IMAG0175.jpg
Also undercoated the wheel wells and frame.
http://i135.photobucket.com/albums/q...o/IMAG0177.jpg
All I need to do is put on the tensioner and belt and should be able to drive. Maybe I'll get some vids this weekend!
Got some work done. Put on tensioner and found a belt that seems like it'll work good. Took the truck around the block too. Runes good but scanned it and saying both 02 sensors are bad... So got a few lil bugs to work out but its gettin close! Gonna be fun ride too!
Heres a few pics of where I'm at. Also changed out the couplers to black and cleaned up some more underhood.

Good job, looks factory.
Looks great, Drew.
Several questions:
1. What A/C kit is that and are you happy with it and it's setup?
2. What intake kit is it?
3. What radiator fan setup are you using?
Lastly, this thing looks great. Would love to see a walkaround video of it, pointing out the highlights!
1. The AC compressor is the stock 93 one. The bracket kit is from Josh Powers. Do a little searching for his name and there are several threads with it on here and few other sites. So far I like the setup but I havent got to run it much at all.
2. The intake is for a 6.0L Hummer H2. I did some digging and test fitting and found this one works great for these LS engines in and OBS truck. I havent seen anyone else using one so maybe it'll catch on. haha I did not want some rigged looking PVC pipe or even the alum tubing on this one.
3. The radiator came from a late 90's 3/4 ton Chevy truck. Its a 34" radiator whereas the stock was 31" plus this one is thicker. Its a direct fit to any OBS but will also need the top mounts from the donor truck. I went out and measured my 06 and it had the same size radiator in it so I found some take off E-fans on eBay from an 06 and they fit great. I had to trim the top ears off of them however. My buddy is making me a radiator cover so then I an mount the top. Only the bottom of them is mounted in these pics is why is sticks a little away from the radiator.
Thanks. I will do some more pics and vids once I get few more things done. Its def came a long ways from where it was at.
can i get a part number for that intake? that looks like it fits real good in there
and is ur exhaust fully welded? or is it bolted at the headers? if so what flanges did you use
The intake is a Bully brand. Its fairly cheap but looks and works good. Lines right up with the factory spot on the fender. I did have to cut about 1/2"-3/4" off the end of the tube to fit it but thats easy enough. Part # IK-701
My exhaust is fully welded on. I didnt want any leaks or anything and the way he ran it I can still pull the trans out if needed without having to take down the exhaust.
thanks for that part number, and it is pretty cheap i found it for like 70 bucks shipped. not to bad
and it will be awhile for me to get that video for ya..... i twisted my driveshaft in half after the stall and longtube install, witch tore a hole in my gas tank... it ran good for about 3 miles but thats all she wrote lol
Awesome build and truck. Thanks for the updates, I just picked up a low mileage 5.3 out of a 07 Silvy.
What is your recommendation on the harness? Should I use the harness that came with the 5.3 or go new. I didn't get the ecu nor the DBW pedal so I will need to get those somewhere also.
Do you have a list of items needed for this conversion? Would make for a good sticky. nice job
does the timing cover have a cam sensor in it(GenIV) or is it on the back of the engine behind the intake manifold(GenIII). 07s had them both ways depending on if it was the Classic body style vs. the latest body style truck. GenIII has a black crank sensor above the starter and GenIV has a grey one.
The cam sensor is in the front on the timing plate cover.
Okay, so verify that you have the grey sensor above the starter, this will tell you that you have the GenIV engine and will have to use the appropriate PCM/TCM combination with your setup. I am not sure how many places do a custom harness for the GenIV but I'm sure you can find out pretty quickly. Start with Nelson Performance, Current Performance, hotrodlane.cc and a few others to see if they're doing them. There are quite a few others out there working over factory harnesses for standalone applications. Keep us updated on what you find out and start you a build topic. :thumb:
i wanting to know what year H2 hummer you got the CAI for? an where did you get it. ive looked online but none of them look like yours. this is the last piece i need so i can get my tune done this week end. so if you can let me know so i can have time to order it for this week. thanks.
i found it. thanks for your help.

Thats it. Sorry I didnt reply sooner. I dont get on here much anymore. I think for the price its a good intake and works well. I did have to trim the end of the tube off about 1" to make it fit right.
And also replaced those cheesy blue connectors with black silicon ones.

I think it looks pretty sexy in there! Still needs a rad cover though.. :(
This thread is awesome....it really needs a small video of a........say quick burnout! LOL Seriously, this is nice. I'm trying to convince my neighbor to do a 4.8 in his 5spd truck.
