I have a quick question. I have an 04 silverado with a 5 speed. Will this bolt up with the 6.0 engine?
not if it has the long crankshaft on the rear of the engine. If the same amount of crank extends from the 6L as the 5.3L then it will swap straight out.
i have an 04 with a 4.3l 5 speed
99-00 6.0's have the longer crank, and iron heads.
Can anyone verify that these are the part numbers for the frame brackets for the V8 motor mounts?
15871387 and 15113851
Ok guys I need some info I have a 2000 silverado with 4.3 and I want to swap to ls1 corvette engine on my truck,,, the engine come with trans already so I'm not worry about that,,my question is if I can use the same harness the come with the ls1 corvette or do I need a harness from a truck and what year.???
Thanks for the help.
You need a 99-02 truck harness
Ok so the harness from any 4.8,5.3 truck right do I have to do any modification to the harness? And I can use same computer or do I need to reflash the PCM to work with the ls1,
Thanks for your info bro.
All that is mentioned in the first post of this thread. This dead horse has been beaten many times.
Thanks anyways I just found this website and I will read and search more thanks bro.
The question I am trying to get figured out is if a 6.0 will bolt up to my manual 5 speed transmission. Thanks in advance
Yes. Flywheel and clutch from 4.8 5speed truck.
^^ hmm... i wonder how many time's we've said that around here
that sounds awesome, but nobody'd look or search for it
What year clutch and flywheel do I need to get for my truck? I know I need a 4.8l clutch and flywheel, but what year do I need to get? Truck is a 05 4.3 and going in is a 99 5.3
01+
just make sure to match your slave to whichever style clutch line you have. the 05 truck should have the slave with a roll pin. the 99-01 setup has the quick-connect at the slave.
01+ Clutch and flywheel are the same up to 05. (No v8 5speeds in 06). He's talking about your throwout bearing and slave cylinder. Match those/
^^ this. sorry it takes me a while to reply. work's been pretty busy lately
Hi everyone,
I have read everything I can and haven't found a clear answer so at risk of being scolded for not searching I will ask you guys. I have a 2003 Silverado 1500 RCSB with a 4.3L V6. I will be swapping for a 6.0L and found a 08 6.0/4L70E combo with all the trimmings. Am I looking at the same swap mentioned here? Does the 08 engine require anything beyond the scope of this guide? Should I start a new thread?
Nothing overly extravagent. A box from Lingenfelter to covert the 58x crank signal to 24x, tapping the side of the block for the Gen3 knock sensors and extending the cam sensor harness. Oh and the Torquerush X-link to run the larger throttle body.
Thank you, Frenchy. I will post pictures and my experience when the time comes. Hurry tax season.... I am ready to pass somebody on the highway without concern that my gutless v6 will be able to accelerate up a hill.
Where did you get the engine frame mounts for the driver side or do you have the part n#? I have a 2wd silverado i have the passenger side working i just need the frame mount for the driver side my donor truck is 4wd so i can't use it.
Dealership or junkyard
most of the yards i called had stacks of 2wd ones
Looks like ill be doing this swap soon
One thing can I use a 03' harness on a 01' 02' dbc engine ? Or does it have to be same year
I just don't want to mess with DBW and pedal
not positive, but i don't think you can. i know the computer pinouts/plugs were different (blue/red on older; blue/green on new), and ain't the instrument cluster interfaced a different way? i only put an 01 engine in a 99, so i just used an 01 harness, so i ain't the expert here
Iv'e read all this but i still have a few questions.have an 05 with the 4.3 took it out put in a 01 5.3 even used the stock v6 mounts .were have problems with the harness for trans we had to swap that plug to the old v6 harness does any one have a read out for that plug its what holding us back from the swap being completed.or do we have to use a differen't harness trying no to have to use the dbw we have the dbc on it now?
I have a 1995 silverado 4.3 5speed manual I want to put and automatic and a v8 I was wanting to do a newer 6.0 I found one that's complete with trans What would u recommend That is the easiest v8 swap to do Thanks
i have sierra 2001 v6 4x2 AT ( 4l60e ) i want to swap to an LS1
this is my first GM car ( Japan user ) i live in saudi arabia i asked everbody about this swap no one have a clue about it
so here is My questions :
1- i did find an engine without harness & PCM
2- i find an engine harness from a 2001 sierra v8
3- also find an engine mount & frame mount
4- i find a flex plate & torque converter from a v8
q1 - do i have to change any interior harness ?
q2 - do i have to send my pcm over to allen or any tuner will help ?
q3- i have been told that the gearbox housing is not the same as a v8 ?
q4- do i have to change fuse box or just leave it as it is ?
i have been searching all over i didn't write this until i am 100% sure that i didn't find any answer to my questions
thanks to OP for his work and effort & everybody have been helping
thanks a lot blacstar
i will do the swap by my self .. is it ok to go with v8 PCM ?
it's newer than 99, so it already has the V8 PCM - so long as it's the silver one.
i faced some problems during my swap any help will be good
1- the frame mount don't fit under oil pan but my stock one fit great .
2- there's some holes under water pump what are they for ?
