    Handheld vs Custom Tune?

Whats up Guys! Im new to the site and lookin into getting a Turbo in a few months and a custom tune becuz i have heard they are so much better than handhelds. Well I went and bought a Bullydog TripleDog Gas GT Programmer. I liked it for the most part but I think I could get more with a Nelson Tune.. And plus I gotta get one anyway with a Turbo. I just basically wanna know how much faster my time could get.

I have a ccsb(HEAVY!) 5.3 Airaid CAI, Flowmaster True Dual Exhaust, just had 3.73 gears put in with a Yukon Duragrip Limited Slip Posi, and the Programmer.

Without gears only intake and pipes it ran a 16.5-7 consistently
intake pipes programmer with 3.23s and POS G80 it ran 15.6-7 consistently with one 15.5
With what i got now it ran a 14.7 last night and i was pretty impressed but i looked and it was only at 89mph....

    60 ft 2.2
    0-60 6.7
    1/8 9.5 @ 75
    1/4 14.7 @ 89

Does that sound right or Can a nelson Tune beat that time and get that mph up some?

Just curious(gettin it anyway) and maybe that helps a few people wondering about gear gains!

nelsonperformance also sells a custom front mount turbo setup. Calculate 100% HP gains for every 15 PSI of boost you run. Most stock engines run from 5-7 PSI. So, if you have 300 HP now and you run 5 psi you will have a 400 HP engine. Run a full 15 PSI and you have 600 HP. Any more questions?

Yeah, NP tunes are the way to go if you can get down to his shop and have him tune it live for you. On 5-7 PSI he can get a very good mail order tune. Any more boost than that you really need a live tune or the ability to log the engine feedback so that you can email data back and forth to update the tune.

Yeah man thats crazy! im definately goin to him for my turbo. ive seen that avalanche on only 5 psi and its pretty sweet at a 13.1 with cam and turbo and i think it is heavier than my truck. i want to run a low to mid 12 when i get a turbo and cam and ditch this 4l60e. i was gonna go ahead and just get a custom tune through the mail for now then in a few months take it to texas to his shop to get the turbo done. I live all the way in Mississippi so i dont want to drive there for just a tune now. so would it help a decent amount now to get the tune? I ve tried callin them btw but they stay super busy so its kinda hard to get a hold of allen.

I am running 12 PSI on a stock 4.8L daily driven engine, FWIW. Quik has run a whole lot more boost on a factory engine than that. The secret is a good tune.
