If you have an AMD processor and have loaded XP service pack 2 you have to change one of the performance setting for the processor to exclude LS1Edit from the new security settings that SP2 loaded. Go onto LS1Edit.com and read this last week's posts. Ken Kelley addressed this issue and how to resolve it there. It's a good place also to get general knowledge or to post questions such as this. You don't have to have a maintenance agreement with them to post either.

you did the change per this post?....

SP2 adds some new antivirus features. THese features are based on
hardware in the CPU, It seems that this hardware is different in teh AMD
and Intel Line, and may in fact be different in different AMD processors.

If you shut off DEP for LS1-edit.exe, and for ls1prog.exe, It should
run on all PC's except a very few with AMD chips. It is much less than
1% of our customers that cannot run with DEP turned off.

Can you try this on the XP2 PC. It works for most AMD's:

    - Right click on "My computer"
    - Choose properties
    - Click the "Advanced Tab"
    - Choose the settings for Performance
    - Click the Data Execution Performance Tab
    - Add LS1-edit.exe
    - Run LS1-edit

Also do the same for LS1prog.exe

Do you have another device you can try, how about a digital camera card reader, just trying to figure if it's the usb port or the converter. If it doesn't freeze when you view the pics on the camera, it's not the usb port. Now connect your converter, try another device on the com port now, like a modem or something, if it freezes it may be the converter driver , see if the manufacturer has an update. if it doesn't freeze, i would say it's ls1edit, how about another converter from another manufacturer.

    good luck,

Ken asked you what brand/model of computer you are using. It was posted earlier this week. Go back to the forum and post the information and maybe one of the other users of LS1Edit will be able to help. My laptop is a P4 so there are no problems with my USB adapter working with the software. Have you tried loading the software on your friend's computer and communicating with your PCM? Ken stated there are a few laptops that just will not work with SP2 and LS1Edit. The only fix is to unload SP2 or buy a different laptop.
