Fords Answer for the ZR1 Camaro....

a 5.8 supercharged...damm hope the zl1 can whoop its ass
to me the SVTs always have more power but the chevy is still faster lol

Ford and the United Auto Workers recently signed a new four year contract, which will see a $6.3 billion investment in Ford's U.S. factories. The new contract also gives us some details about the 2013 Shelby GT500.

There have been rumors that the next GT500 would get a 5.8L supercharged V8 to go head to head with the Camaro ZL1 and the latest contract between Ford and the UAW confirms this. Part of the contract states that Ford's Romeo Engine Assembly Plant will receive a $50 million investment and will produce the 5.8L supercharged V8 for the 2013 Shelby GT500.

It's expected that the 2013 Shelby GT500 will pack over 600 horsepower.

So is this meant to be a response to the ZL1 Camaro or the ZR1 Corvette? Because I think both will still be faster

Im a GM fan till i die. The camaro could look like a gremlin and i would still like it more. Even if the mustang is factory stock, look at the variety of performance parts available for it compared to a mustang. Most mustang performance is designed around suspension instead of the drivetrain.

new camaros are almost identical to the challenger. hell have the same floor pans and even quarters. I prefer the mustangs and have preferred them. Just that theyve been down on power for sometime now. When the coyote was released it just embarrassed the ls3 from the factory. Gm ruined the camaro by trying to make it to much like a vette. IRS doesnt belong in a car that was intended for straightline performance.

i like the camaro more, also, but in all fareness thats a really bad shot of the stang', it doesn't even look like its doing a real burnout, all the soke is behind it like the wind is blowing, but then there is some in front of the wheel well going farward? and there is no smoke over the wheel... the entire picture just looks wrong...

Naw, the Nova was so much smaller that they classified it as a compact muscle car when they made the SS. It was in the same class as the Darts, Duster, Falcon, Comet and Maverick. True muscle cars were large of stature. Hell, some even consider the Mustangs as Pony Muscles cars, anything that someone shoehorned a big engine into. Hell, even an original Shelby Cobra is considered a muscle car just because they put big blocks in them. The true definition of a muscle car is how you feel about it, I guess. Me, I believe a muscle car is a large full frame car that came factory equipped with a big block.
