    4.3l Throttle body

I have an 03 Silverado and was looking at the throttle body. It has a big restrictor kind of thing on the back of the plate the blocks a lot of flow at wot. I had heard that taking that off will mess with egr flow but will also supply more air and therefore, more power. Have any of you guys done this, and is it worth it? What problems does it cause besides shortened life on the front plugs?

Sweet. I was expecting to hear someone say something along the lines of "Holy s*** don't do it!" but if none of you have had problems, I am going to get right on it. What is the best way to go about it? I haven't looked at it a whole lot but I would guess it is a type of rivet or something. And James, I am thinking about using your idea and taking it completely off. I will decide that when I find out what all that involves and what it's gonna take to get the restrictor off. Thanks guys.

Scratch that. It looks like the "butterfly" comes off with two torx screws and from there I just take the restrictor off with another screw or two. I'll let you guys know how it turns out.

Jake you called that one. I honestly ddin't think about it until I had the plate in my hand with three rivet holes. Then I realized that I definitely hadn't thought that one through. The funny part is that I had decided to do this at a friends house during my lunch break and he didn't have a rivet gun or any way to plug the holes so I drove all the way back to work at 4000 RPMs gaining speed without touching the gas. Nothing a few rivets and time with no customers in the store didn't fix.
