    Tire size help ???

Now that i have raised my truck up a bit I need alittle help figuring out what size tire to run. I don't wont them to stick out past the fenders or rub but i would like to fill up the fender cuz what i'm running now looks alittle a half assed if you know what i mean

excuse the crappy pics these are the only ones loaded up to the hosting site and i'm at work

The wheels are Billet Specialties with a wierd offset cuz they almst stick out with the tires that on them now

    17x8.5 255/50 R17

I've always ran this size tire, and the shops where i live couldn't find there ass with both hand.. They have spouted out all kinds of off the wall sizes that don't make any since to me.
I shouldv'e came to you guys in the first place.....

I did some figuring and that would be like 31"inch's tall I don't think I can fit that with my drop its a 2/4
    *edit*
275/60 r17 Converts to (10.8" wide/ 7.02" tall) making it 31" tall overall tire height
From the center of wheel to the fender i have something like 17" of space
my tires now are 13.5" from centercap to edge of tread that leaves a about a 3.5" gap from top of the tire to bottom of the fender.

Now if I did my thinking right a 275/60 r17 would be 31" tall and leave with a gap of 2" so I think it might work but it would be close.....

I have no clue if any of that made any sense.. its been a long boring night a work..lol....

Actually 29.9" but you can fit a 31" tire with a 2/4 drop. 275/60 is what I'd suggest as well.

    Just a 4.8.......

Not to ruin the thread or anything but how in the world do you guys take the 275/60 type tire size and convert it to the "inch" tire size?

+1 on the 275/60 or look for a 255/60; a little bit narrower.

yeah, the first number is the metric width of the tread 255 = 255mm or approx 10" wide. 255/25.4 or 255*.03937
second number is the aspect ratio of the sidewall height. 50 = 50% of width of the tire is the sidewall height. 255/50 would be 10" tread width * 50% = 5" sidewall height.
third number is the rim diameter, so 255/50/15 would be 10" tread width, 5" sidewall height that you add twice to the calculation, 15" rim = (2*(10"*.5)) + 15" or 25" tire diameter.

Your 255/50R17 should be a 27 inch tire with a 10 in section width. Since you don't want your tires to stick out any farther, but you want to fill out your wheelwells a little more, I suggest using 255/60R17. That would be a 29 inch tire and still have the same 10 inch width. Just imagine one extra inch of sidewall added to what you already have.
