You complain about benefits and etc. use your 15 hr then take benefits out of it. after al lsaid and done you now make 9hr...answer me...how can you support yourself rather alone a family? dont say have wife work cause then it takes 2 ppl to make combined 20hr.... Unions allow for familys to survive by paying individuals what they are worth for the skill.
How do you think people make it down here in Texas where there aren't Unions to protect them?

What? Where is this going?... again, times have changed... welcome to the 80's

My Dad is a non union electrician... he makes a lot more than $15hr.

Desk Jockey is a skill... you go to school, learn and show ambition and you are rewarded with a nice job/career... and I have an office to myself with a window (not always in the office though) and I work 11-13hrs a day 5 days a week by choice. Continue away at seeing things the way you do... I challenge you to secede the Union; move to a ''free to work'' state and see what I mean. You will get you're spirit back in 6 months and the sun will shine upon you and make you whole again... it's a discussion not an attack and after all it's the facts!

Im part of the union in the company that i work for and i cant say that i 100% agree with how everthing goes on here but at times it can be good. There are however many lazy good for nothing workers that are employed here and that are on theyre final warnings ect ect and somehow they still work here after all the crap they have pulled. I know if i tried half the stuff i would be gone. I cant say they have done any good for me but i also cannot say anything bad either. Before i came here they had the old timers that did my job making around $30 an hour base rate (not including 10percent shigt differental) the contract was renegotiated and now me and the people that do my job makes about half that. All the 10yr+ guys left on early retirement and got like a 20k bonus and some persentage of there pay everymonth for the rest of there lives!

oh n yes if Texas wanted we could be our own country we dont need none of the other states to survive we have our own power grid, ship channels, and just over all resources we are in a better economical state than any other state in the US bcuz we Texans can support ourselves no matter what jiffy comes our way
