Update: Here's what was wrong with my old 5.3L (quoted from Mic):

well tore it down today.....lol.... im glad you got a new motor.... the #7 was trashed.... was about to break up, was cracked all the way to the wrist pin on one side.....lol... ring land was broke in a few pieces... and top ring was toasted.... cylinder wall was tore up pretty good, but should clean up nice. half of the skirt was about to let go too....lol... good save.

I'm sure my 60E on't be too far off when I replace it...

Yeah I parked mine the week after the Lightnings got a beat down. I had been having a lifter problem for a while and it finally made enough noise for me to fix it. I have the gaskets, arp bolts, oilpump o-ring, and lifters sitting in the house. Replacing the o-ring cause I didn't do it when the new ls6 pump was installed. Rookie mistake I know lol But the heads are in the shop getting p&p, 3 angle valve job, 30 milled, and combustion camber polished like a babies bottom. Another week or so and they will be ready to pick up. Cant wait, I think Ive been having withdraws lol As soon as its all together again I will be at the track... IN THE 12's!!! I was almost there at the Lightning shootout (13.3et) but the damn weather screwed everyone. Have a N20 kit sitting with the rest of the parts but Im starting to think that I need to go 80e before I get too carried away. I noticed that these trucks with fully built 60/65e trannys are going out with a good shot and head/cam.

4.3 is disconnected & unbolted - will pull in the morning, so long as it ain't rainin'. got the 5.3 today, but they sent the wrong one - had a cut harness and missing some accessories, so they're sending me another one & it should be here tomorrow as well.
