I'm all for better times and believe he ran faster but I don't think people are running a half second faster just from a muffler swap, there had to be other variables involved? I mean if all I had to do was throw a cutout (i.e. muffler delete) on to gain a half second in the quarter everything I own would have one, I'm positive your right about flow and picking up some time but if it was .5s that thing must have damn near been capped off lol
i absolutely agree. i suppose it's worth it to say that all the combos i've posted about were much more than mere bolt-on-only trucks. one is an 11:1 383 genI with trickflows, the other is a 400+" genI with brodix heads, etc. so these combos were probably being really held back by the restrictive spintechs. my combo that picked up 2mph was a run of the mill 370" genIII build.

Fact is a lot of facts are left out of this equation.
I've done plenty of testing over the years to see what gains are to be had with what mods and a muffler or lack of exhaust is not going to net you 9mph. Other shit was skewing the equation
Damn all those times I went 12.0-12.1 n/a I had a spin tech I could have ditched it and been solid 11s.....doubtful

Honestly, based on our findings, I believe it would have been worth trying.

weird...i suppose we could chalk that up to every combo is a little different. i'm sure there is more to the story on my buddy's car, but the findings were consistent with others in the group.
