Thread: what will happen if i remove the cat converters?

    hmmm. So would I gain much hp (or sacrifice low end) by removing the cats? I dont want it to be obnoxiously loud.
    1999 Silverado 2500LD EC, SB, 4x4, LT, 6.0 V-8 (LQ4), 4L85E, 4.10 gears & a G80. 4" homemade intake, 3" magnaflow 2 into 1, diablosport predator tuner.

    You will gain small amounts. Removing them will allow your exhaust to be more free flowing and sound better. All results are on the same, but some people have said they have lost a little low end power. I wouldn't worry about it. Especially on a 6.0L.
