I will say it again. there is no substitute for the best. I have been running my truck around like crazy for 3 years with an FLT level 5. I have over 500hp 4wd and drive like a bat out of hell. I also tow a 14' trailer that has seen 100mph loaded behind my level 5 . Guys will swear they can do what FLT can do. They think they can but truth be known they have no clue. The only other person I would consider building me a transmission would be a guy on Silverado SS he is in Texas. PM me and I will tell you his name.
yep the guy from silverado is gonna be building my tranny when i get the loan from my bank

The only thing I disagree with is that there is a certain amount of confidence to be had with a brick and mortar type business. I agree that FLT seems to have the best transmissions, but even they fail in trucks they shouldn't. After you spend $2600 on their transmission, and $500 shipping it and core charges, you are a ton of money in.

I agree, that I wouldn't let that guy even touch my truck. It doesn't matter if you think he's running a stand up business, the dealership wouldn't charge you $12,000 for a 4l80e swap. Charging that much for such a job is criminal.

That is incredible prices, and not in a good way. I wold love for you to call the guy back and get an itemized list of the parts he is using. Love to see how he is justifying the money. Tell him you are doing some comparison shopping and want to see exactly what he is doing.

I would also suggest FLT for the trans. We send quite a few converters to FLT for them to Dyno test with the trans. Very knowledgeable and quality conscious. A FLT with a Circle D converter makes a great combination.
