Yes, the odometer reading stays with the cluster. It does not change from vehicle to vehicle. Whatever mileage is on the cluster you put in will show when you plug it in. So--if you want to change out the entire cluster, the mileage will be different from your truck's odometer reading...

You can have the cluster programmed to show the correct mileage.

On some years you can....2003-2007 (GMT800) for sure. Sometimes after the initial mileage is programmed, it cannot be overwritten later.

I didn't think you could on the 99-02 models? But then again--I could be wrong...

i think the low fuel thing burning out the pump is a bunch of crap, the pump sits in a plastic bucket which draws from from the tank through a one way valve and the bucket it also kept full via the return fuel line dumping excess fuel back into the bucket keeping it full...... this is atleast true for my 2001 model.......

Well you see Tyler I want to be able to run my drivers side exhaust there...where the stock tank is at the moment... Also because if I do end up doing the twin remote mount thats where one is going to exit/kinda be. Oh and I almost forgot, I want to be able to hold more fuel...I have 26 gallons, its a lot but I want more, and putting it in the rear, well that should yield better traction without 4 wheel drive... Oh by the way it was just an IDEA...I didnt know if you got those are not?

Well, if you ever got rearended in an accident...BOOM! Not good.
And screw the exhaust...either put it out the back or have it exit on the pass side.
And why do you wanna hold more fuel on the truck? That just adds to the weight!

Yes I know it adds weight...but think about it if its over the rear end what does that do? TRACTION...well a little of it...
I dont know dude maybe cuz I want to be able to go on long trips.... It was seriously just an idea I was having for a while, not something I was seriously thinking about doing right now.
