Thanks again. What do you guys think of the LS6 cam or the LS1 Hotcam? Will it work for me, and will it require the springs and tuning?

id like to see someone with the LS1 hotcam in a truck. i think it does require springs and is of course you wouldnt get everything out of most any cam without tuning.

Does anyone have an Idea about how much it would cost to have the cam kit installed? I've never done one before and I don't want to even attempt it! The LS1 hotcam comes with all of the springs and retainers.

good question. i had people tell me $500 for a complete cam install in my other truck a long time ago. it was a lot more work though i would guess about half as much for a LS1 that doesnt need to have the intake off, and only do springs, retainers, and cam.
btw...whats the cheapest anybody's seen the LS1 Hotcam kit?

i think it depends on the money you want to spend. to get there fast, nitrous is the way to go. if you want to do more with the truck later, get the usual bolt on's and get'em outa of the way. pulley, e-fans, headers, obviously a tune, servo's for the tranny, plugs and wires, etc. i am running 14.8 with the mods in my sig. that is with wheel spin and i just added 3.73's so i should gain a little more if i can get traction. hope i helped ya some
01 ecsb stepside. best 1/4 14.6 at 92 mph.
i almost bought a hotcam, I should have done it. That cam is pretty aggressive and has a damn good lope and seems to add quite a bit of power.
I guess that's an option,

Tbyrne has the hotcam kit with springs and retainers for $450. I was gonna do the hotcam, 2600 stall converter, and Nelson Tuning. I was hoping that the three together could get me close to a second off my quarter mile. I've heard some bad things about the e-fans, the only headers I'll go with are the long tubes with y-pipe and hi flo cats-and those are $1200! I also heard that I shouldn't bother with the servo and shift kit if I'm gonna have Nelson tune my shifts. I have taylor 10.4 mm wires, but I need plugs. I would like Denso Iridiums. If I run into traction problems, I'll use 4WD. Anyway, have you guys heard of the same things I've mentioned here? Thanks again

I am considering the LS1 HotCAM and a TC. SilveradoSS03, how do you put that SS in 4WD mode, or better said, how do you take it out of AWD mode?
Because It Must Be Brent!
