Just wondering what you guys think about the SS.

on a side note, i asked my wife if i could trade the tahoe in for an SS, she said , trade yourself in for one, lol.
I'll have to work that one a little bit more.

later,

Sounds like you have been hanging aroud us SSs too much there, Allen. Getting bitten by the bug
I agree with some of the above, if it came from the factory with a Radix like system it would be a perfect truck. That is why I got an SS and a Radix. I am a happy camper now, although, the lure of more HP is always a problem...

500ft lbs of torque, 4.10's, AND large brakes, and you think it wont tow a boat?

why cant you use it as a work truck? i dont get it?

He is correct with what he says. The SRT-10 has a 1,000 lb pay load rating and Dodge does not recommend that you tow with it. More then likely that is cuz Dodge chose the cheap way of dropping the ride height... removing leaves from the rear pack. If you four link and bag the rear end though, it could probably hold its own with a 3/4 ton. [/b]
thanks for clearin that up. didnt mean to sound like an ass.

On the other hand, the SS sells here for $39,000...
Actually most ppl are getting the SS for about 32-35K$ and the lowest I've seen is $29K, those prices are all over the US

Ya, dcarns, I really like the SS and if I were to get one, I'd definitely add a Radix the same.

see ya online,

4L80E to begin with, that has a 2.70:1 first gear at least
9.25" front diff
9.5" rear axle

Larger brakes to go with those 20" wheels.

I'd prefer a 400hp 6.0 HP but that way detuned 345hp will suffice.
I agree the SS could stand to have beefed-up trans and gears. GM's stock brakes work pretty good, but bigger ones would look cool. I think if GM did those upgrades the horsies in the motor would go up too. I like Allen's 420hp suggestion.

No joke about "way detuned" on the SS. I'm just learning Edit, and the timing and torque reduction settings are laughable. I'm no tuning expert, so I won't have an awesome tune (like Allen's) for quite a while since I'm taking small steps. (Also cost me more, but I'm mostly a d-i-y kinda guy.)
I definitely agree that the stock tuning is weak.

But, aside from the wishlist, I still love my SS. It's an awesome truck!!

Hell I forgot Baer makes larger rotors already! So just a 3/4 Trans and Diffs and I'd be happy.
