Even in our worst of times there are things to embrace and learn from....

The day I found out I was diabetic my grandfather was put in the hospital 4 floors down from me for complications of diabetes. That was the begining of end. We had a bond after that and I found a different person after that. 6 months later I got a call to get north soon and after he gave his last hand squeeze to me he passed away. I found out he felt guilty for "giving" me diabetes yet is was the thing that brought us closer.

Long story short, find the good in things you normally wouldn't.

my grandfather has been in the hospital over the past week for a minor heart attack.. this is one of 3 that he has had. last night my family and i had gone and visited him and he was in great spirits and getting around just fine, while acting like his normal self.

he was supposed to have open heart surgery today, but after evaluation his doctor decided against it. they figure with his age and how extensive the damage to his heart is, he would be better off sent home with medication, AGAIN. don&#39;t get me wrong, the medication they gave him last time gave him 6 more years to live, to this day and then some.

what i want to know is, what&#39;s the easiest way to prepare myself for his death, which could be anyday now.. (knock on wood) hopefully not anytime soon.

I know how you feel, a year ago I lost my grandmother (who I was very close to) to cancer, Yesterday I found out that my mother Has been diagnosed with colon cancer. So I know what your going through. Just be around him as much as possible. Be happy when your around him. Just dont take any time for granted, and let him know that you love him.
