If you go the spacer route...get ones MADE for the silverado. Most offroad mags sell them in kits with longer shocks for like buck fifty. DO NOT get the universal ones...they don't fit.
I would personally recommend going with spindles or springs. Springs make it ride STIFF, but don't require popping both ball joints. Spindles are pretty straightforward and keep the ride quality the same. In the rear Add-a-leafs are good for about 1.5". I have them and some 5.5" blocks. Not a fan of the blocks, but if you tighten the ubolts correctly, they won't come out. Mine have been thru hell and back (axle wrap IS a huge problem though). If you did 3-4" up front, and a add-a-leaf with a factory 4x4 block (1.5 or 2" I forget how big they were) in the back, I think you'd be good.
Going with the correct spacers, 285/75/16s will rub like made on a c1500. Spindles clear 285s no problem. As will a truck with spacers and body lift.
Just for reference, I have 7" suspension lift and my 315/75/16s rubbed pretty bad. Put on a 3" body lift, and my 36x14.5 rub a tad bit.
blown transmissions are about as useful as 97% of the guys on this forum
I was thinking the daystar poly's off this site for 40$ I just want a little more size max like 3 in's and i really need to keep it cheap like max 300 or 400.
