Thread: My 5.3 build coming along quicker than i thought! Shooting for 400 rwhp N/A

    Sounds good man. thats almost the same setup i was gonna do on my truck but i'm thinking bout getting rid of it now.....

    What heads are those off of? have u dynoed the truck to see what #'s you put down?


    i was gonna do P&P 243s, mayeb eps cam, TBss intake with eldelbrock TB. then later on swap it all over to a procharged forged 6.0

    Installed: McGaughys full 2/4|HD hood/Z71 Airdam|Circle D Built Trans & 3200 stall|34" fans/radiator|True Trac w/ 3.73s|V8 Swap w/ Milled Heads and Comp valvetrain|Custom Grind 22x/23x Cam|Pacesetters LTs & ORY|Magnaflow|Wheatley Tune
    Future Mods: Paint (Sunset Orange Metallic), milled 243s, possibly a 6.0 with either turbo or procharger
    * 2008 GMC CC Texas Edition: stock with CAI

    The guy i got them from said they were new 5.3l 762 heads he picked up and had all the work done to them. He bolted them on his camaro with a LS1 and he melted a piston shortly after. I just had them milled .040 and that one chamber cleaned up. I haven't dynoed my truck with its current setup and prolly won't...nearest dyno is in nashville. Will get some numbers when i get the new setup all dialed in though.

    Interested in your results. I just got the same cam but 112LSA +4 for my LQ4. Unfortunately I won't be able to install until around Christmas. Just ran out of time I could have the truck down for days.

    i donno about 400 rwhp. but check out the nick williams 92 mm t body i have one on my tbss intake swap. do you know the flow number for your heads. im in the process of gitting my heads done and want to know what they should be, then im gitting a cam to match. its pretty much the same set up i dont think it will make 400 but it would be nice.

    I think it should be right there in the ballpark either plus or minus (I'm not shifting until 6600 or 6700 rpm redline being 6800). Ive seen guys with 350 to the wheels with just a cam...but in all actuality it's just a goal really. As long as it's a beast and has a good power band/ street manners i will be happy. I could build it for track only but then no fun on the street, I will just build my S10 for mostly track only this winter.

    Found a 90mm Edelbrock TB in the the classifieds tonight from DBRODS could'nt pass it up. One less thing to buy now.

    Yes knee surgery sucks!!! Worst injury for a recovery.

    Atleast you are making good use of your time, I just popped perks and drank heavily.

    i need to get dynoed, im wondering if im close to 400 on motor. HP calculator says 411 FOS

    Tanz45: Oh don't worry the military loves handing out Perks! This is my 6th surgery ( 4 knee surgery and 2 after IED Shrapnel to my right side) and every time I was well stocked.

    yea i will, i just did some other calculator thing and i run 91 mph in the 1/8th its saying i should be running 11.47 @ 140
