If ya wanna go a step back in technology go to a 200-4R... I recommeded that to bud8fan. Trans is WAY better than any 60E could ever be.
Was that the tranny they put in the Grand Nationals? [/b]
Yeah and about every other POS in the early to mid 80s... it's a good design overall with better gearing than the 700R4/60E. I so wish GM had gone that way vs the 60E

I think a nice built 4l60e will last behind the 6.0L. I'm loving my built tranny more and more everyday.
Just a heads up, I got my 02 6.0L with low miles for $950. I got a steal on it, so you might want to look around and see if you can get a great deal on one. Mine seems to be running pretty good right now.

You can probaby get more bang for your buck by adding a cam and turbo/supercharger to your current 5.3L. 02Denali is making more than 300hp at the wheels with his 5.3 and a 4l80 without FI or Nitrous. Seems like it would be a shame to pull a 5.3 with only 30k miles.

No more trucks, but this is what I used to have. 2000 GMC Sierra, 6.0L-LQ4, Built 4L60, LS6 Cam, The Other Guys Headers, 3 inch exhaust and 7 chamber flowmaster, 43lb injectors, Nelson Tuning, Drop - 3/4 McGaughys Spindles, Bell Tech Shackles & Hangers. Best time 13.59 @ 106

my 5.3 has 95,000 miles on it...trust me it definately runs strong as hell with a lot of power that surprised most people when they get in the truck...
i was thinking about a heads/cam combo from SLP possibly yeilding 300-400HP...i still want the low end power with very strong midrange as i rarely see the 6,000 that my truck shifts at...

any suggestions would be good...

Im a big fan of force induction and I think if you dont get greety with the boost and the cam you will be just fine and have a nice 13 second truck. As you can see I really could care less about horses cuz when it comes down to it your 1/8 and 1/4 mile times give you all the braggin rights you need. In my opinion FI is the way, but then again consider your motor has got some miles on it. Is all a gamble, good luck.

Why not build the 5.3. It has the same stroke as an LS1, but has less bore. Pull the 5.3, bore to LS1 specs, put forged rods and dished pistons, #317 6.0 heads, turbo cam, intercooler or alky injection, big fuel system, 3200 - 3500 stall, and a turbo. You will make 600+ at 10psi or so easy.
