It's more like 1.25" rearward, just made my own brackets to do this, so the info is fresh in my head. I don't have a good pic of the brackets off the truck, I'll attach a rendering from my CAD design. My bracket has the same features on the stock bracket to pickup the locating tabs in the motor mount. When I dropped the motor in, the brackets rested spot on, and the bolts slid right in like the factory mounts. Fit perfect. I added some extra gussets and reinforcements to stiffen it up, and those are not pictured, but you can kinda see them in the pics a few posts up.

As for the trans, the LS computer runs it fine. You have to turn off the PWM TCC control in the cal if you have a 94 and older trans. If you can still see the pump on your trans (no engine or converter) you'll see PWM cast into it if it has PWM control. The pinout is IDENTICAL(same pin locations and wire colors) from 1994-to the 2001 PCM I used (aside from missing the PWM wires if you don't have PWM), again it's fresh in my head from looking at it while diagnosing my no-shift issue yesterday. The 2003-2007 PCM can run it too, again the PWM function needs to be disabled if you don't have it, or you will get a code.. P18xx.. can't remember off the top of my head.
