I went to oriellys the weekend before I started my swap to grab as much of the fluids, hoses, filters, connectors, etc as i could. I walked out completely suprised at my >$450 receipt...

Oh and you need to do a writeup w/pics when you do the 3.73s/tru-trac swap cause I plan to do that too soon.

I put a 2006 5.3/4L60E in my 85 last August that had been previously converted to TBI. It's an easy swap, A/C, cruise and all.

Here's my build thread over on 67-72chevytrucks.com, the actual engine swap starts around post #440-something:

Glock's new project: "Fred" w/ 5.3L LS swap info - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

There are about a dozen other 5.3/6.0/6.2 swaps going on over there right now.

The only reason I was wanting to get an motor out of an '08, was for the possibility of not having to rebuild it first. I don't know of a whole lot of '06 trucks that would have low mileage...

Guess I should check out Jasper engines. Maybe they have a good rebuilt one for me.

My 2006 engine and trans that I put in mine had 58,000 on it. So it still has a good 150,000 miles of life left in it! It's pretty easy to find them with < 75,000 miles, and I wouldn't hesitate to buy one with 75k on it.

Slim to none. None of the guys I know doing these swaps, over a dozen, have torn them down. Like I said, mine had 58k when I bought. Unless something really bad happens to it, I probably won't open it up for a good 100-150k more miles.

The one I bought had 97,000 on it. Runs great. You can find a <'07 with less than <60,000miles easy.
