Don't get me wrong, I like tinkering with these things as much as the next guy. I like my 2001 with the 5.3 and will probably end up modding it.

I just got the itch for a new truck and had this "great idea" to order what I want with a kickin' motor already in it. (So much for great ideas) If I have to swap an engine to get what I want, I will keep my present truck and save the money. Meanwhile, GM will miss a potential sale. Heck with the money I'll save, I could do pretty much anything I want.

Like one of our turbo kits! But that only adds another 200hp, lol.

You're swapping OE parts for other OE parts. No harm no foul.

Just put a 408 in bigger in it. Spend the same money on a new l92 when you can have a built motor.
99RCSB Broke because I wasted thousands and thousands of dollars on my truck.

I would like a regular cab with regular bed body style, but the Chevy dealer told me I cannot get that combination with the new 403 HP 6.2. What's up with that?? Chevy has the potential to make a quicker than Lightning out of the box sport truck with all the parts available from the standard parts bin and doesn't make it available? This defies all logic. Maybe this has been discussed before.....sorry to vent my frustrations if it has. I hate to consider a Toyota, but they don't restrict their 385 HP v8 to just their big trucks.

i know the feeling, when i bought my new truck i wanted the samething youre asking for, they wouldnt do it, i even offered them 30k, i even just asked for body and the 6.2 motor in a crate, even told them screw the warranty i didnt care for it lol!!! queers still wouldnt sell it to me
    Simple: 408 on steroids!

yeah... that's why the RCSB SS never saw production

that woulda been awesome - a factory RCSB with 400+hp in front of a T56 with a 5 link rear... and a warranty - all for under a projected $30k
00 FRC - just top end, exhaust, and a hot-air intake
    99 Sierra - 5.3 / 5spd

That's why I don't understand (the ailing) GM. Ford made a Lightning and still sold lots of Mustangs.....Dodge made that v10 RT truck thing and still sold Vipers and chargers. It just doesn't seem to make good business sense especially since the profit margin of trucks is so much higher than cars. Again, sorry to vent the frustration.....but GM has always done bonehead things like this......still, I have always bought their products. I feel that will end soon with my realization that they don't make anything I want, or their complete switchover to tiny cars that run on "renewable energy" (like bat poop)
