    Yes, adding an 80e to a mildly modded 5.3L will take away some power. Since you have a big stall, add a larger cam and have some fun!

    it was an 80e Ls converter i used the 5.3 flexplate...converter was seated in as far as it would slide into the trans...i was told you didnt need the spacer if using the 5.3 stock flexplate

    When you seated the converter, did it fall down all the way into the keyway slots? How deep did it sit inside the bellhousing?

    it locked in the slots as far as it would push in..it didnt butt al the way up to the trans there was prolly a 1/4 or a tad more still exposed between the trans and converter i found that odd but i ignored it with what i had been told

    omg you had me wryd there for a second lol...so you do not need the spacer when using the stock flexplate

    He used an older 80e too btw dont know if he mentiond that.

    Hmmm...yeah, it depends on what year.

    But hey--if everything bolted up fine, I guess it worked.

    (Thinking to myself) I didn't think the stock 5.3L flexplate had the proper holes (6) for the 80e converter to bolt up to it...
