Some people do it that way. I still think they are not nearly as accurate as a chassis shop or race scales at the track. Truck stop scales are made to weigh very heavy trucks and are not as accurate at lower weights. Feed mills and scrap yards are usually no good because all they need is tare weight, not accurate totals.
Get 4 real heavy duty bathroom scales, like the ones Tyler's mom uses and set them under each tire then do math
