If it were not for swap difficulties I would buy a truck with a 4.3 instead of a 4.8 since they make almost the same power stock.
Don't bother with a 5.3 swap, go 6.0 from the beginning. BTW, the cam and spring swap is easier with the 6.0 on the stand so do that before you stab it. Get a mail order tune from Nelson when you start the swap and have it at the door step when you're ready to fire it up the first time.
4x4 ext cab with a 4.8, yea man youre gonna need a motor swap.
