I vote Valentine. I don't personally have one but I've seen it in use and had it save a friend and I a few times and I'm impressed at it's range.

i had a 9500 and now have a valentine. i prefer the 9500. it has alot more cool features and it seems to me that it just performs better. the only thing the valentine really has going for it is the directional arrows, which to me are pretty worthless

Bel RX65 has always served well... until LIDAR became widely used in my state.

9500 is a good choice, and the "people's favorite" (Valentine) is one of three top brands.

I gave up on radar detectors. They always seem to get me in more trouble I just use my eyes and it has worked better then my detector used to when I had my old truck

I have a crappy one that does me lots of good. David, to a point, you're correct....but the best thing you can do with any detector is live with it for a long time before you trust it....then realize you should never trust it. It's a tool, not a save-all. I travel lots of the same roads every day and don't even hear mine when it goes off in familiar places.....but I damn sure hear it when it sings a song in a place it does not usually ring. They help IF the user first decides that when speeding, the user can be nabbed despite the detector....if you're cool with that, then speed if you so desire. If your detector "saves" you, good deal. Then again, don't get pissed if it doesn't....'cause it wasn't driving...

it also dosent work when youve got the windows down, music blaring, and 5 people in the truck screaming at the top of thier lungs to the song trying to stay awake lol you will never hear it go off just pretty blue and red lights behind you. I stoped using mine in the ss and now i speed less because of it but i keep one in my work truck for just in case nice to have it going through all the small towns with 30mph limits
