Nice start.

Same year, but Step Side, airbag suspension, and front mount turbo. [/b]
Speaking of a early 70's Chevy/GMC RCSS...I know where you could pick up a 1972 GMC regular cab, step side for cheap... It would be a rebuild--the body and frame are in good condition. I don't think a frame-off resto would be needed, but this would be the way to go Moze. And I know that you could pick it up for cheap....a lot less than the $5000 baseline you were thinking of. I'd say you gould get it for less than $1k...

The front would look like this:

    But with this bed:

    DOOOOOOO IIIIIIIT!

Thanks man - it will depend on how good of a deal I can get it for. I prefer the Chevy front end to the GMC.

The nice thing about some of those old trucks is they have a trailing link supension. That means easier to lower, better traction (it tries to lift the rear as you get on it), and they come with a 12 bolt.I would try to get one as loaded as you can find. A/C, Power steering, and disk brakes would be a must.

Thanks for the info guys - much appreciated!

I may wind up getting something that's already in really good condition with a decent engine. There are some pretty good deals out there, so who knows...
