wow! 11 pages of a thread about a question i thought was valid..
i myself was always wondering why GM didnt do a 454 LS in the 03 - 07 SS Silverados.. but maybe it was a cost savings, MPG rating, whatever...

The question was very valid. I think the answer is the additional 2k that you have to add for the lsx block. Nuff said, done imo.
Gm didn't make one because it would not be profitable. Don't forget emissions would also be an issue.
99RCSB Broke because I wasted thousands and thousands of dollars on my truck.

Stock to stock. There would be no comparison. The ls7 would rap that big block. 454 made like 210 hp lol, but with like 450tq.

LOL, where is the closed mind? I just disagreed with the "BBC with a carb is the way to go" statement. I have run BBC before, and there is no such thing as a budget BBC build... not one that will come close to the power Im making now for the cost. Now all out crazy NA power... sure... i guess if thats what u want... 1 mpg, idles like shit, gets hot at stop lights... no thanks, im over those days... I just wanted him to prove his speed, i dont care if i lose, thats why we race to see who can get it done... in a street race you have to get all right to go fast.... hell, my 13.3 sec tahoe would eat my 10.4 truck on the street b/c no traction.... all you guys that love BBC, go get you some of that..lol

The best advice I have ever heard:... Only take B( . Y . )ST advice from someone that is CURRENTLY running a turbo setup close to, or bigger than what you want......

Love the trucks... it's that joke of a motor they put in there lol. What are the plans for it? LS swap? This thread has gone to poop, might as well talk about something worth while lol

Well I feel the most important thing is weight you take a 454lsx engine and a 454 bbc and compare them and all that weight is on the nose of your car so that effects everything not just racing. Plus you look at the ported BBC heads the ports dont even flow as much as a ported LS7 head unless you spend $5000 on a set of big dukes and then you have custom pistons and all that crap. I feel dollar for dollar pound for pound and LS based engine is an all around better package. You can make the same power with less weight and less money. A 500lb lsx 454 making 750hp is rally like having 800+ with the weight saving because the car will 60ft that much faster with less tire. I ahve always noticed everyone with a big block wants to compare there 400hp 396 to a Pat Musi 800ci pro stock engine when the Sh$T hits the fan. I had a 370ci LS with a 90mm turbo that I drove 110 miles each way to the track and on 93 octane pump gas and ran 8.90's I was fastest enough that I could have won the quick eight at my local track several times. Thats pretty sad cause they were 85% BBC engines.
    I AM THE LAW
