    gear question

    my truck came with 3.23 gears and there an 8.6 now i got 4.10s and someone said the thing the gears attach to(cant remember whats its called right now) will only go up to 3.73s is that true

    Yes, you will need a 4 series carrier if the gears are not made to bolt to a 3 series carrier. Find out if they are made that way. The ring gear will be extra thick.

    so if my ring gear is extra thick it will work or will not, and how do i know what extra thick is cause my other gears are still in my truck so i cant compare them

    I have never heard of anyone having this problem before.

    No. The ring (annular) gear can be whatever ratio--as long as it is the same as the pinion.

    well i bought a new ring and pinion set along with the master install kit so you think i could put them in for now on the stock carrier untill i save up money for the posi kit

    Yes. All of it will bolt up just fine. You plan on changing the gears yourself or have a shop do it?
