    Another Compression question

    Ive decided to build a 5.3 with 4.8 flat top pistons and 862 heads milled .030and a 3 angle valve job. Anyone know what my comression will be? Any suggestions for a cam?

    Arent the pistons wrong for a 5.3 stroke? Pin location in wrong place for a longer rod or something? Interesting idea but I'd sure measure the distance from the center of the wrist pin to the top of the piston.

    I can use L33 pistons then? Mark and I were thinking they were the same but good call greg. Ill have to find out.

    I thought that the pin location was the same location and the used a longer rod to make up the difference in stroke. Now I could be wrong but i thought I read this over on PT.net.
    Step 1. crus at it.
    Step 2. get a hammer.
    Step 3. torch it.

    True statement. The bore between the 4.8/5.3 is exactly identical and a longer rod is used. The pistons should fit perfectly on stock 5.3L rods.

    I'd put 4.8 pistons in mine, can't justify tearing into a new motor though, I'm not that crazy.
