    taking the screen out of the maf

    when i cleaned my maf today at my buddys shop it stoped my motor from sruging with a/c on and in gear.When he look at it he triped out and asked me wheres the screen i said i took it out.Dont you guys take those things out,because i took it out about 6 years ago.So is it good or is it bad
    i have a 2001 chevy did a 4.8 swap to a 6.0l with mahle pistons 10.5:1,eagle 6.125' h beams,232 238@50.595 598 lift on a 112lsa,243 heads,44lbs motec IIs,tuned by Nick D,it makes 402rwhp,@5000lbs w/ me in it 13.75@101mph on 22' wheels

    when i had a maf mine was always gone. some say it makes the vehicle run funny. i never experience this in a 100k worth of miles.

    dont mean to but in. but i thought the screen was to smooth out air flow but any way did u guys notice any difference in your truck power wise?

    Most responses I've seen said that there was no noticeable gain and it made their truck run bad. They ended up replacing it with one that had the screen.

    Mine have been removed on all th vehicles Ive ever owned. No problems yet.

    i was lookin around online and it said that u can have the maf tuned so u dont need a screen anyone else

    I took the one out of my Blazer for no reason and no gain or loss. I left it in the Denali 'cause it's supposed to be there and is supposed to "straighten" the air. Not sure. It's kinda like the TB bypass IMO.
