    Help me decide please. thanks!

I am new to the forum and this is my first post. I currently drive a 92 fox mustang with too much to list. I am starting my own buisness and I need a chevy truck. I am selling the stang to get the truck and need some help choosing..

I will be installing a custom turbo onto my new truck when I buy it to help my loss of the fox.

Which truck will be the absolute best year and model for my turbo kits performance and reliablity?

I was thinking a 6.0 with a 4L80 single cab short bed, is there a year model that had both the 6.0 and the 4L80?

PLEASE only reply to this if you have first hand experience and NOT just what you heard from someone or read on a site. THANKS!!

I am at least 90 percent sure the Reg cam short beds didnt come with a 6.0/80e option unless it was a special order or something. If there is one out there from the factory I will be surprised

yeah thats a custom job. You can find an extended cab 1500 with a 6.0l 4l65e pretty reasonable, thats what i did. $11,000 out the door with 90kmiles when i got mine.

    Good luck man

If I remember right at one point they offered the 2500HD in a reg cab short bed with the 6.0-80 combo. Not sure though. I know someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

HD's were only regular cab, long bed. plus they are a lot heavier than 1500's.

Your best bet is to find a cheap high mileage RCSB and swap the drivetrain to a 6.0/4L80E.

My friend just told me to buy a rcsb with a 4l80 and then just swap the 6.0 motor cuz its easier than the tranny swap. Is there any years with a 4l80 that are better than others?

unless you buy a 1500hd, 2500, 2500hd, SS, or VHO you wont get your combo. and at that the 2wd SS doesnt have a 4l80 but a 4l65 and i cant speak for the vho cause i dont have first hand experience.

but hell if your just trying to make up for a fox body by a 4.8 silverado and put some bolt ons lol..

but serious you can find a rcsb (regular cab short bed) with a 4.8 for pretty cheap. find a 6.0/4l80e from 1,000 to 2,500 (how many miles, year, sweet deal or high price you know). then get it swapped in. a tune, a sts kit you can find them from 1,500 to brand new for 4500 i believe? then injectors, shift kit or full tranny build, new gasket on motor to make sure its good. then you can sell the old 4.8/4l60 and make back some money for cam, stall, gears or whatever

if you want best stock motor a lq4 be your bet, low compression factory. strong bottom end. and ive read 2005 and up was the strongest 6.0 liters cause they shared a lot of parts with the ls2. but ive always heard better about the 02 and up motors.

sorry for being so long just thought id fill you in with some things ive read to give you a jump start. ive never turbo'd any of my trucks but if it counts i own a 6.0 lol

is this why you got stuck with a stang only listening to people who have them? i dont know how serious you are on the last statement but there is LOAD of knowlegde on this site. if you would read this site youd learn a lot, and some people are to hard headed to admit they dont like the set up they chose to go with. so take everyone into consideration and just read a lot and compare what people say to facts and see where it gets you.
