    GM Hard Tonneau

Has anybody used the hard fiberglass tonneau cover from GM? I'd like to put one on my 08 Sierra Denali but I'm afraid that it will rub the paint off the bed rails. Does this usually happen with a tonneau cover?

Yes, they will rub the paint on your bed rails. One consideration would be a sprayed in bedliner, over the rail, and have them stop at the edge of the tonneau cover. When it's latched closed, you'll never see it.

I guess I could get a hard plastic one that doesn't go over the rails. I really don't want the paint to be rubbed off and don't want a spray-in liner either.

If you don't want anything to touch your bedrails, then an Access Roll-up cover might do it for ya. Check these out! A buddy of mine has one and loves it. If you need to haul something big, just roll it up and out of the way. Access® Roll Top Tonneau Covers - Pickup Truck Bed Roll Up and Tonneau Top Covers

Do these things seal up good? Is there any drilling or do they just clamp on?

No drilling at all, and they do seal up VERY well. They also are very easy to adjust in order to keep the tonneau tight. One person can easily remove or install it.

Yeah I want to put a bed rug in but it won't solve the problem of the tonneau rubbing the bed rails.
