    What headers should i buy.

I have a 2005 z-71 5.3L and i have heard shorties are worthless on these trucks and i was wondering what kinda of long tube headers i should get and what time of y pipe. Also how hard are they to install on these trucks? I have never done headers before. Thanks matt

Never had a header I actually liked installing. Most are a pain.

silverados are easy if you have air tools. I vote Dynatechs if you have the cash. If you are looking more for cheap power the Pacesetters are good.

Yeah, I will put in a vote for the Pacesetters too. You might have to wrestle with them slightly because of the 4Wd stuff, but they will go in... But Danny is right about the Dynatech headers...they are made of T-304 stainless and fit a little better...BUT they will set you back about $1100+the cost of a y-pipe. You can pick up some new ceramic coated Pacesetters and the y-pipe for around 1/2 the cost (~$500) of Dynatechs...

Well i found a set up with no cats. They are dynatech and the price is $860.00 for the headers and $500 for the y pipe.

Or i can get dynatechs with cats and the y pipe and they would be $635.00

Or i could go with Pacesetter Longtube Ceramic Coated Headers for $390 and the y pipe for $145.

So my next question is are the dynatech that much better then the pacesetters with being atleast $825 more? Thanks guys

Do all these suggestions sound familiar? (just messin with ya)

Pacesetters are your best bet. Unless you don't mind paying that much for the Dynatechs. eesh That's a lot of money for a part that does the same thing as the other for half the price.

Well im running a cheap muffler and its not bad at all. My v6 was just a tad bit quieter with high flow cats on there and shorties. Its only because my hooker aerochamber is a piece of ****. But when I have the cutout open, well thats a totally different story.
