Just got my nelson tune, help plz

So i just received my new pcm today, installed it, tried to start the truck and it runs for about 5-7 seconds then turns off. I tried the idle re-learn but it still shuts off. I can't seem to keep it running. Could there be anyother re-learns that i need to try?

It's a 97, is that a new enough computer that i would need to do the security re-learn. My truck doesnt even have a security system or the blinking light it talks about in the faqs.

Just keep trying to start it. When I first installed my tune it prolly took 10 tries before it would even idle. Then once it idles you couldnt rev it. So I just had to let it idle and have everything get learned in. Ran like a rapped ape after about 10 minutes

It's probably vats, just do the relearn from our site, nelsonperformance.com and instead of waiting for the light to turn on and off, just wait 10mins between each cycle.

call us if you have any issues getting this, we'll help out,

oh ya, vats started around '96

I have been trying for about and hour and a half now with the security re-learn procedure, each time waiting ten minutes between each cycle and still wont keep running. It starts and idles fine, but dies within 7 seconds.
    Any ideas?

Give me a call tomorrow and I'll send you out another pcm with vats disabled, that way there's no messing around with it.

Hmm... older (90s model) trucks have VATS that allows for a few seconds of run time? Interesting. I did not know that. The 99-up models won't let it run for 2 seconds. It'll crank over, but die a second later.

Yeah, my 93 LT1 had VATS. It's been around a while.
