Just picked this up tonight. It is 2004 5.3 with 24000 miles. The guy that I bought it from said it came out of a Regency conversion RCSB. [/b]
i hadnt seen a 5.3 regency.. mainly 4.8L

I'm going from a 4.3 in my 2001. Also does anyone know what little things I need to watch out for when swapping this over? Transmission fitment problems? Problems going from 2001 to 2004? Anything that i can line up before I start on this would be great.[/b]
there is alot different between the two platforms. if you plan on using the fly-by-wire throttle body youve
got more to buy and wire to make it work, properly. if you remain with throttle cable, youll need some
swap parts from a 2002 and earlier to make the throttle work correctly.
wiring isnt even close to being correct... youll need a schematic, expensive tools and crimps to make the
electrical marginally sound. manual or automatic trans?
fuel lines will have to "adapted" or swap pieces can be aquired from salvage yards.

Well got my PCM back from Charlie and the truck still won't start. It will crank all day long and no security light on, but I hooked a noid light up to the injectors and they are not getting activated. Have power to the injectors. All my grounds are good. Have spark, have fuel at the rail. I'm at a loss as to what to do now. Anyone have any ideas or know what will cause the PCM to not activate the injectors? (had VATS disabled in the tune)

Sounds like he's still missing the VATS setup or you're missing a key switched power wire to the PCM somewhere. What part of DFW are you in?

I guess I'm just going to have to go over my power and grounds again. I have to be missing something stupid. I know I'm gonna find it and feel like an idiot because it was something simple. If the PCM is lacking a signal from somewhere (crank, cam, ect.), do you guys think this will keep it from starting?

Absolutely. I pinched the cam sensor wires between the engine and transmission once and the truck wouldnt start. Don't forget the crank sensor is mounted behind the starter. Check for connection on both aforementioned sensors.

If he hasn't locked your PCM I can read it and see if it has the VATS disabled or not. I can't program it because it will cost me $100 for a license but I can let you know if the VATS is on or off.

SHE LIVES!

Thanks dude you jogged my memory and made me remember that the motor got dropped when we had it on the hoist (only about 2 inches off the ground) and the wires that run in the front of the engine underneath the oil pan got crushed. 3 of those wires are for the crank sensor. I ran a wire overlay for the crank sensor wires and she fired right up!

The thing that kills me is when we were initially trying to get it started (about a month ago, late at night) one of my friends mentioned those wires and he was checking them out but for some reason we just never thought about it again. Now I gotta put the rest of the front end on, bolt the bed back up, check all the fluids and then go drive this beyotch!
