Thread: which engine?

  1. #1
Ok I can hardly stand it anymore. I wanted a 427 aluminum stroker. I can't stand to spend 15k on a motor.
So what to do? I still want to use the whipple.

LQ9 ? It is not aluminum.. . .My truck is fat and so am I. I need the weight savings.
LS2 ? I am not familiar with what all has to be done to convert. Not to mention those bitches are still expensive as hell.
LS1 Vette or GTO motor? Aluminum Still a little expensive.
Heads and cam are certainly in the mix for any motor.
Am I crazy? Should I not consider the weight savings?
I would like to buy a used motor and be able to boost the whipple as high as it will go 10lbs I think. and maybe a little nitrous one day.
Any suggestions? Please some one help put my brain to rest on this.
My wife is tired of me staring off onto space thinking about it. And she damn sure doesn't want me to spend any money. I need to know which direction to go so I can start saving a stash.
    Thanks

I guess the weight savings would be <100lbs on an iron VS aluminum block, which is equal to what...10 HP? Unless you are more worried about weight balance/distribution.
    Gone, but not forgotten!

So am I nuts for even thinking of the aluminum? Tell me the truth I can handle it.

GO with the LQ9 and do some mild mods like ROCKERS SPRINGS AND A NICE CAM you should have close to a 400 hp motor. the plus side is that it should bolt up to any gen 111 truck no problem
